Hayaatun Sillem
Hayaatun Sillem (née Is’harc) is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Royal Academy of Engineering. Education Sillem attended Godolphin and Latymer School. She earned a master's degree in biochemistry from the University of Oxford in 1998. She completed a PhD funded by Cancer Research UK at University College London in 2002 investigating the JAK-STAT signaling pathway supervised by Ian M. Kerr. Career Sillem joined the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2002 as an Engineering Policy Advisor. She joined the Department for International Development 2005. In 2004 she became a Committee Specialist to the Science and Technology Select Committee, and later as a Specialist Adviser to the House of Commons of the United Kingdom, House of Commons Science & Technology Committee. In 2006, Sillem joined Royal Academy of Engineering as Head of International Activities. She led the Academy's partnership with Africa. Suffrage Science Award
The Suffrage Science award is a prize for women in science, engineering and computing founded in 2011, on the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day by the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS). The Godolphin and Latymer School is an independent day school for girls in Hammersmith, West London. The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire is a British order of chivalry, rewarding contributions to the arts and sciences, work with charitable and welfare organisations, and public service outside the civil service.
