Havre, Montana
Havre ( ) is the county seat and largest city in Hill County, Montana, United States. Havre is nicknamed the crown jewel of the Hi-Line. It is said to be named after the city of Le Havre in France. As of the 2020 census the population was 9,362. History Havre was incorporated in north-central Montana on 5 September 1893. In August 1893, twenty-six people voted to incorporate Havre as a city on September 5 of that year. The townsite was platted south of the railroad tracks on parts of Descelles’ and Simon Pepin’s ranches. Like many railroad towns, Havre’s streets were set in a grid formation, with the east–west orientation of the railroad serving as the northern boundary of the town running parallel to the south by Main Street, which fronted the railroad tracks, followed by First through Third Streets. Hill County, Montana
Hill County is a county located in the U.S. state of Montana. As of the 2020 census, the population was 16,309. Its county seat is Havre. It lies along the United States border with Canada, abutting Alberta and Saskatchewan. Part of its territory is within the Rocky Boy Indian Reservation, which is held by the federally recognized Chippewa-Cree Tribe. History The first European-American settlement in the future county area was Fort Assinniboine, garrisoned by the United States Army in 1879. Fifteen of the original 104 structures from the fort are still standing. A portion of the fort was ceded for use as the Indian reservation, which was established in 1916. Havre Public Schools is a school district headquartered in Havre, Montana. The district, in Hill County, includes Havre, East End Colony, Havre North, Herron, Hilldale Colony, Saddle Butte, West Havre, and most of Beaver Creek. History Dennis Parman serves as superintendent until 2009, when he became the deputy superintendent of the Montana Office of Public Instruction. David Mahon replaced him. Jacob Bachmeier
Jacob Bachmeier (born January 29, 1998) is an American politician who served in the Montana House of Representatives from 2017 through 2021. A member of the Democratic Party, Bachmeier became the youngest person ever to be elected to the Montana House of Representatives, and at the time was the youngest public officeholder in the United States. Biography Bachmeier graduated from Havre High School and attended Montana State University–Northern. Bachmeier announced his run for the House in November 2015 when he was a senior in high school. He turned 18 in January 2016, making him an eligible candidate for Montana public office, and picked fellow student Daniel Almas as his campaign manager. Bachmeier was elected with 53% of the vote, defeating incumbent Republican Stephanie Hess. He was reelected in 2018 with 59% of the vote. Marc Steven Mariani (born May 2, 1987) is a former American football wide receiver and return specialist. He played college football for the University of Montana, and was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the seventh round of the 2010 NFL Draft. High school Mariani attended Havre High School where he was awarded 10 letters: three each in football and basketball and four in tennis. He was named all-state at wide receiver. In his senior season he had 48 receptions for 1,237 yards and 16 touchdowns. He served as a team captain as a senior in football. His 2004 football team was 12–0 and the state "A" champion. The Miss Montana USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Montana in the Miss USA pageant. From 1994 to 2007, it was directed by Carol Hirata and the Carlton Group, based in Bellvue, Colorado. In 2013, it was taken by Pageants NW Productions based in Puyallup, Washington. Sharon D. Flint Rasmussen (born January 25, 1968) is an American professional rodeo barrelman. He is perhaps the most famous "rodeo clown" or "rodeo barrelman" in the sport of bull riding. He currently resides in Billings, Montana, United States. A former high school math and history teacher, Rasmussen signed a contract with the Professional Bull Riders and currently provides entertainment at their Premier Series events.
