Havant HC
Havant Hockey Club is a field hockey club based in Havant, Hampshire, England. The club was established in 1907. The men's 1st XI play in the National Men's Conference West. The club fields men's teams and ladies' teams as well as a junior section teams. Many of the club's players have gone on to earn international caps at both senior and junior level. History Havant Hockey Club came into existence in 1907. The club took to the field at least two seasons earlier, and therefore 2004/5 was the club's centenary season. The home ground, Havant Park, was originally named The Recreation Ground, and in 1905, the club were tenants of an almost new pavilion, which they shared with Havant Cricket Club, Havant Rovers F.C, The Lawn Tennis Club, Athletics, and Bowls. From the 1950s the club fielded five sides and other grounds had to be found. A ladies section was formed in the early 50s and a mixed hockey team in the mid 60s. Men's England Hockey League
The Men's England Hockey League is a field hockey league organized by England Hockey that features men's teams from England and Wales. Format Regular season There are 62 teams in the league, the top tier consists of a Premier Division of twelve teams. Below this is tier two, which consists of two ten-team Division One regional teams (North and South). The third tier consists of three regional conferences North, West, and East, all consisting of ten teams. The teams play each other home and away during an 18 week season from September to April. The league has a winter break between December and February. The winners of the Premier Division regular season automatically qualify to play in the Euro Hockey League. League Finals Weekend The top four Premier Division teams from the regular season qualify for the League Finals Weekend. Men's EuroHockey Club Trophy I
The EuroHockey Club Trophy I is an annual men's field hockey competition organised by the EHF for European hockey clubs. It is the second most prestigious European club competition, being one tier below the top men's European club competition the Euro Hockey League. In that sense, the ECT is hockey's equivalent of the UEFA Europa League. Format The tournament features 8 clubs from EHF member countries. Qualification Each year one of the 8 available league places is allocated to an EHF member country's national association. The clubs admitted are the clubs of those nations who finished ranked third to sixth in the previous year's Trophy II; the clubs of those two nations from the previous year's Trophy I; plus the clubs of those two nations promoted from the previous year's Challenge I. Sandeep Singh (born 27 February 1986) is an Indian professional field hockey player from Haryana and an ex-captain of the Indian national hockey team. He generally features as a full back and is a penalty corner specialist for the team. He has been dubbed "Flicker Singh" in the media for his specialization of the drag-flick, one of the fastest in the world. Singh holds a DSP rank in the Haryana Police. He has been elected as MLA in 2019 from Pehowa constituency in Kurukshetra, Haryana from Bharatiya Janata Party. James "Jimi" Lewis (born 5 July 1974 in Lydney, Gloucestershire) is an English field hockey goalkeeper, who was a member of the Great Britain squad that finished ninth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Russell Simon Garcia (born 20 June 1970) is an English field hockey coach and a former England & GB field hockey player. He won a gold medal with Great Britain at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul at the age of 18 years 3 months, making him Britain's youngest ever Olympic champion. International career Garcia was born in Portsmouth. He played international hockey from 1988 to 2000 and was awarded his first cap aged 17. Robert Stephen "Rob" Moore (born 21 May 1981) is an English field hockey player. Moore is amongst the most capped England players and was a key part of the team that picked up a silver medal at the Champions Trophy 2010 and a gold medal at the European Cup 2009. David Andrew Vincent Faulkner (born 10 September 1962) is an English former field hockey player and current head of women's performance at The FA. He was part of the Great Britain squad that won the gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He also won silver with the England squad at the 1986 Hockey World Cup. Calum Giles (born 27 October 1972) in Portsmouth, England) is a former Great Britain Olympic field hockey player, who competed in the British squad at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He went on to play another two years of international hockey before deciding to retire at the end of the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney.
