Haute Alsace University
University of Upper Alsace (french: Université de Haute-Alsace, UHA) is a multidisciplinary teaching and research centre based in the two cities of Mulhouse and Colmar, France. Research and teaching at UHA concentrates mainly on science, technology, economics, management, arts and humanities. In 2017, UHA has more than 8000 students with about a hundred courses offered. The founding of UHA was driven by social and business players, among them was Jean-Baptiste Donnet. The special geographical situation of UHA, which lies close to the Swiss and German borders, is favourable to the emergence of single courses leading to double or triple degrees that are recognized in the neighbouring countries. EUCOR
EUCOR (german: Europäische Konföderation der Oberrheinischen Universitäten, french: Confédération européenne des Universités du Rhin Supérieur, ) is a tri-national association of five universities in the Upper Rhine region with two universities from Germany, two from France, and one from Switzerland. It was originally founded in 1989 and was reorganised as a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) in 2015. Upper Alsace
Upper Alsace (southern Alsace) was a landgraviate of the Holy Roman Empire centred on Ensisheim and Landser, north of the County of Ferrette (Pfirt). The counts of Habsburg ruled the territory from the 1130s down to its cession to France in the 17th century. History In 1130, the Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, Lothair III of Supplinburg in order to diminish the power of the Hohenstaufen family in the region, merged three local regions into several larger fiefs. The County of Sundgau, County of Ferrette, and the parts west of the Rhine from the Duchy of Swabia were merged to form the new Landgraviate of Upper Alsace. In 1188, the first mentions of the Landgraviate appear in official records, however the date of probable creation was around 1130. Mehmet Çekiç (born 1 January 1970) is a Turkish Paralympic Games, Paralympic Para-alpine skiing, alpine skier who competes in the LW4 (classification), LW4 Disability sport classification, disability class of men's slalom skiing, slalom, standing and giant slalom, standing events. Jennifer K Dick, (born 1970) is an American poet, translator and educator/scholar born in Minnesota, raised in Iowa and currently living in Mulhouse, France.
