Haunted Gold
''Haunted Gold'' is a 1932 Pre-Production Code, American Western film directed by Mack V. Wright and starring John Wayne. It is a remake of the 1928 film ''The Phantom City'', starring Ken Maynard and his horse Tarzan. Filmed in 1932, two years before the implementation of Hollywood's Production Code, the film contains several racial slurs involving the black character "Clarence Brown" (played by Blue Washington). Plot John Mason and Janet Carter receive an anonymous letter telling them to travel to a ghost town that has an abandoned mine. There they befriend each other as they try to find out why they were sent the letters. They soon find themselves targets of Joe Ryan and his gang who are looking for the hidden gold inside the abandoned mine. They are helped by the mysterious Phantom of the mine who has his own plans. Otto Hoffman
Otto F. Hoffman (May 2, 1879 – June 23, 1944) was an American film actor. He appeared in almost 200 films between 1915 and 1944. He was born in New York City and died in Los Angeles, California, from lung cancer. Hoffman's Broadway credits include ''The Strange Woman'' (1913), ''The Spring Maid'' (1910), and ''A Broken Idol'' (1909). He was also active in stock theater productions. Hoffman debuted in film in 1906 in a production of the Edison Company in New York. Later he worked for Goldwyn Pictures. John Wayne Filmography
American actor, director, and producer John Wayne (1907–1979) began working on films as an extra, prop man and stuntman, mainly for the Fox Film Corporation.
