Hatton Road
Hatton Road (), also known as "The Morning Trail", is a paved, steep, motor vehicle-free road in western Hong Kong Island, Hong Kong, on Lung Fu Shan. It is largely used as a fitness trail for walking, running, and cycling. Description The road measures in length. It starts north at the junction with Conduit Road, where it becomes Kotewall Road, at western Mid-Levels overlooking the University of Hong Kong, which is also the terminus of NWFB Route 13. There are a few residential apartments along before the road overpasses Po Shan Road. It then winds into the forests to the south and divides Lung Fu Shan and Pok Fu Lam Country Parks. The road ends southeast at a camping and resting ground near High West, where it intersects Lugard and Harlech roads, both leading to Victoria Peak. Hikers may also continue following a small path nearby leading to the tip of High West. Conduit Road
Conduit Road is a road in the Mid-Levels on Hong Kong Island in Hong Kong. The road and buildings Conduit Road was constructed in 1910. It is located in Western Mid-Levels. It is named after the aqueduct passing underneath which carries water from the Pok Fu Lam Reservoir to the Central area. It is at the highest point on Victoria Peak reached by the Central–Mid-Levels escalators. It is also the second highest road; second to Po Shan Road; in Western Mid-Levels. The road was renamed as "Izumo-dori" (出雲通) during Japanese occupation of Hong Kong. After the surrender and evacuation of Japanese army, its name was changed back. It is a luxury residential area. One of the road's earliest residents was Catchick Paul Chater, who built a magnificent residence at 1, Conduit Road named 'Marble Hall', whose gatehouse is the only reminder of this connection today. NWFB Route 13
NWFB Route 13 on Hong Kong Island is a bus service operated by New World First Bus (NWFB), between Admiralty (Tamar Street) and Kotewall Road, Mid Levels. History Route 13 service was started by China Motor Bus (CMB) on 16 April 1974, when the first bus lane in Hong Kong, the one along westbound Caine Road, came into operation. The fare at that time was 50 cents, without child fare concession or section fare arrangements. At that time, the main bus fleet on the line was Guy Arab Mk V (LX class). After CMB converted routes 260, 261 and 262 into full air-conditioned services in 1991, the MCW Metrobus coaches used on these routes were transferred to route 13. The route was handed over to the current operator NWFB on 1 September 1998, when the franchise for CMB to operate bus services ended. Victoria, Hong Kong
The City of Victoria, often called Victoria City or simply Victoria, was the ''de facto'' capital of Hong Kong during its time as a British dependent territory. It was initially named Queenstown but was soon known as Victoria. It was one of the first urban settlements in Hong Kong and its boundaries are recorded in the Laws of Hong Kong. Pinewood Battery
Pinewood Battery is a historic military site in Hong Kong, located above sea level, within Lung Fu Shan Country Park, in the northwestern part of Hong Kong Island. History Construction of the battery started in 1901 and finished in 1905. During the Battle of Hong Kong, the Battery came under repeated air raids. On 15 December 1941, the Japanese 23rd Army Air Group carried out extensive attacks on Hong Kong Island. Pinewood Battery, manned by the 17th AA Battery 5th Anti-Air Regiment Royal Artillery, was severely damaged. The raid caused one death and one injury. One of the antiaircraft guns and certain other facilities were destroyed. The commander of the defending troops decided to abandon the battery, and all men were ordered to retreat on that day. Victoria Peak
Victoria Peak is a hill on the western half of Hong Kong Island. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak only generally. With an elevation of , it is the highest hill on Hong Kong Island, ranked 29 in terms of elevation in Hong Kong. High West or Sai Ko Shan, is a mountain on Hong Kong Island with a height of It is in Central and Western District. Geography High West is located within Pok Fu Lam Country Park and straddles the boundary of Central and Western District and Southern District. Pok Fu Lam Country Park
Pok Fu Lam Country Park is located on Pok Fu Lam, the western end of the Southern District of Hong Kong Island. The 270-hectare park was designated in 1979. Ecology The park is located at the foot of Mount Victoria. Since being declared a park, the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries has engaged in efforts to green the valley. Lung Fu Shan Country Park
Lung Fu Shan Country Park, established 18 December 1998, is a country park in the Central and Western District of Hong Kong. It covers the densely vegetated slopes of Lung Fu Shan (''aka.'' Hill Above Belcher's), and includes the disused Pinewood Battery as well as the Pinewood Garden picnic area, providing a scenic backdrop to the residential and commercial districts of Hong Kong Island.
