Hatley Park (Greater Victoria)
Hatley Park is a neighbourhood in Colwood, British Columbia. Named after Hatley Park National Historic Site, it is the home of Royal Roads University. Another notable landmark in the area is the Hatley Memorial Gardens, a large cemetery located opposite Hatley Park National Historic Site. While some farmland remains in the area, most has been converted to middle-class residential Subdivision (land), subdivisions and commercial establishments (mainly strip malls). The neighbourhood's major thoroughfare is British Columbia Highway 14, Highway 14, locally known as Sooke Road. Colwood is a city located on Vancouver Island to the southwest of Victoria, British Columbia, Victoria, capital of British Columbia, Canada. Hatley Park National Historic Site
Hatley Park National Historic Site is located in Colwood, British Columbia, in Greater Victoria. It is the site of Hatley Castle, a Classified Federal Heritage Building. Since 1995, the mansion and estate have been used for the public Royal Roads University. From the 1940s to 1995, it was used for the Royal Roads Military College, a naval training facility. Royal Roads University
Royal Roads University (also referred to as RRU or Royal Roads) is a public university with its main campus in Colwood, British Columbia. It is located at Hatley Park National Historic Site on Vancouver Island. Following the decommissioning of Royal Roads Military College in 1995, the government of British Columbia created Royal Roads University as a public university with an applied and professional degree-granting focus. The university considers alumni of RRMC to be part of its broader alumni community. British Columbia Highway 14
British Columbia Highway 14, named the West Coast (Sooke) Highway is the southernmost numbered route in the province of British Columbia. An east-west highway on the southwestern coast of Vancouver Island in the Capital Regional District, it is sometimes known as the ''Juan de Fuca Highway'', as well as ''Sooke Road'', Sooke being one of the largest communities that the highway passes through. Highway 14 first opened in 1953, extending west from Colwood, a suburb of Victoria, to the coastal community of Jordan River, and was extended all the way west to the remote community of Port Renfrew by 1975.
