''Hat Check Honey'' is a 1944 American musical-comedy film directed by Edward F. Cline. It stars Leon Errol and Grace McDonald. Dan Briggs and his son work as a duo in a carnival act, but the father breaks up the act so his son can pursue his solo career. As he works his way from busboy at the Penguin Club, to boy singer, then to Hollywood, romantic entanglements and a father-son reconciliation are woven among several musical numbers. Charles Emmett Vogan (September 27, 1893 – October 6, 1969) was an American actor with almost 500 film appearances from 1934 to 1954, making him, along with Bess Flowers, one of the most prolific film actors of all time. In 1913, Vogan acted with the Allen and Kenna Musical Comedy Company. In 1917, he was the male lead in a touring company that presented ''The Four Husbands''. He also was the male lead in the touring production of ''Too Much Mustard'' (1924). Vogan also acted with the Anderson Players, the Wilkes Players, and the O.D. Neely Edwards
Neely Edwards (born Cornelius Limbach; September 16, 1883 – July 10, 1965) was an American vaudeville performer and film actor. Biography Edwards appeared in 174 films between 1915 and 1959. The first was as an unbilled player in a Harold Lloyd short. In the early 1920s Edwards and his vaudeville partner Edward Flanagan appeared as the "Hall Room Boys" in some of the earliest short films produced by Cohn-Brandt-Cohn Film Sales, which would develop into Columbia Pictures. Of his credited film appearances, about 140 are comedy short subjects, notably the "Nervy Ned" one-reelers made for Universal Pictures from 1922-24, in which he and Bert Roach played a couple of hoboes who typically get into slapstick trouble. His later career is marked by bit parts and character work. Edwards was married to actress Marguerite Snow. He was born in Delphos, Ohio, and died in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. Claire Whitney (May 6, 1890 – August 27, 1969) was an American stage and film actress who appeared in 111 films between 1912 and 1949. Only 21 of these films survive, as most have been lost.
