Hassan I Dam
The Hassan I Dam is an embankment dam located northeast of Demnate on the Lakhdar River in Azilal Province, Morocco. Completed in 1986, the dam provides water for the irrigation of over of farmland. The dam's hydroelectric power plant also generates on average annually. At in height, it is the tallest dam in Morocco and the tallest earth-fill dam in Africa. Demnate
Demnate ( ar, دمنات; zgh, Demnat, ⴷⴻⵎⵏⴰⵜ) is a town in central Morocco, located at the foot of the high Atlas Mountains roughly 110 km east of Marrakech. The majority of the population speaks Berber; the local dialect is Tashelheit, as well as Darija and some French. An embankment dam is a large artificial dam. It is typically created by the placement and compaction of a complex semi-plastic mound of various compositions of soil or rock. Hydroelectric Power Stations In Morocco
Hydroelectricity, or hydroelectric power, is electricity generated from hydropower (water power). Hydropower supplies one sixth of the world's electricity, almost 4500 TWh in 2020, which is more than all other renewable sources combined and also more than nuclear power.
