Talesh County ( fa, شهرستان تالش; also Tavalesh ( fa, طوالش) is in Gilan province, Iran. The capital of the county is the city of Hashtpar. At the 2006 census, the county's population was 179,499 in 42,949 households. Retrieved 4 November 2022 The following census in 2011 counted 189,933 people in 52,989 households. At the 2016 census, the county's population was 200,649 in 61,055 households. Talysh Language
The Talysh language (زبان تالشی, Tolışə Zıvon, Tолышә зывон), is a Northwestern Iranian language spoken in the northern regions of the Iranian provinces of Gilan and Ardabil and the southern regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan by around 500,000-800,000 people. Talysh language is closely related to the Tati language. It includes many dialects usually divided into three main clusters: Northern (in Azerbaijan and Iran), Central (Iran) and Southern (Iran). Talysh is partially, but not fully, intelligible with Persian. Talysh is classified as "vulnerable" by UNESCO's Atlas of the World's Languages in Danger. Mitra Farazandeh (born ) is an Iranian disability activist and visual artist. Biography Mitra Farazandeh was born in Iran, she has a physical deformity. She lives in a village in Hashtpar (also known as the city of Talesh) in the Gilan province of Iran. Farazandeh has advocated for the visibility of sexual desire of women with disabilities. She writes about not feeling human due to her physical disability and struggling to recognize a need for love; and how her physical body has created false perceptions of her not having sexual needs. She earns a living by selling her drawings and paintings. In 2018, Farazandeh is on the BBC's 100 Women award list of the most inspiring and influential women in the world.
