Hasan Abidi
Hasan Abidi (Urdu: حسن عابدی) (7 July 1929 – 6 September 2005) was a Pakistani journalist, writer, political activist and an Urdu language poet. Early life and career He was born on 7 July 1929 in Zafarabad, Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, and educated in Azamgarh and Allahabad (British India) and after the partition of India in 1947, he moved to Pakistan and settled in Karachi in 1948 and associated himself with journalism and writing. He became president of the Karachi Press Club and held office in both the Karachi Union of Journalist and the Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists. Hasan Abidi was an active trade unionist as well. He was also an active member of the ''Irtiqa forum''. Abidi started his journalistic career working for the Urdu language daily newspaper ''Afaq'' in 1955. Zafarabad, India
Jafarabad (sometimes Zafarabad) is a town and nagar panchayat in Jaunpur district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Demographics As of 2011 Indian Census, Jafarabad had a total population of 10,792, of which 5,578 were males and 5,214 were females. Population within the age group of 0 to 6 years was 1,595. The total number of literates in Jafarabad was 6,897, which constituted 63.9% of the population with male literacy of 71.1% and female literacy of 56.3%. Faiz Ahmad Faiz
Faiz Ahmad ''Faiz'' (13 February 1911 – 20 November 1984; Urdu, Punjabi: فیض احمد فیض) was a Pakistani poet, and author of Urdu and Punjabi literature. Faiz was one of the most celebrated Pakistani Urdu writers of his time. Outside literature, he has been described as "a man of wide experience" having been a teacher, an army officer, a journalist, a trade unionist and a broadcaster. Born in Punjab, British India, Faiz studied at Government College and Oriental College, and went on to serve in the British Indian Army. After partition, Faiz joined the liberal english-daily ''Pakistan Times as'' editor. He was also leading member of the Communist Party before his arrest and imprisonment in 1951 for his alleged part in a conspiracy to overthrow the Liaquat administration and replace it with a left-wing, pro-Soviet government. Eqbal Ahmed
Eqbal Ahmad (1933 – 11 May 1999) was a Pakistani political scientist, writer and Academia, academic known for his Anti-war activist, anti-war activism, his support for resistance movements globally and academic contributions to the study of Near East. Born in Bihar, British India, Ahmad migrated to Pakistan as a child and went on to study economics at the Forman Christian College. After graduating, he worked briefly as an Pakistan Army, army officer and was wounded in the First Kashmir War in 1948. He participated in the Algerian War, Algerian Revolution, then studied the Vietnam War and U.S. imperialism, becoming an early opponent of the war upon his return to the U.S. in the mid-1960s. While highly regarded in radical circles of South Asia and left-wing circles more generally, Ahmad was a controversial figure.
