Harvey, Western Australia
Harvey is a town located in the South West of Western Australia along the South Western Highway, south of Perth, between Pinjarra and Bunbury. It has a population of 2,750. Harvey Town is known for its dairy industry and oranges. History Harvey's name is derived from the nearby Harvey River, named by Governor James Stirling in 1829, soon after the river's discovery by explorers Alexander Collie and Lieutenant William Preston RN. Although not positively known, the river is most likely named after Rear Admiral John Harvey. In 1817–18, Harvey was Commander in Chief of the West Indies StationStirling served under him while in charge of , and Harvey recommended him for promotion. Stirling named a number of Western Australian features after his former navy colleagues. The Division of Forrest is an Australian Electoral Division in Western Australia. Geography Since 1984, federal electoral division boundaries in Australia have been determined at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Harvey Senior High School
Harvey Senior High School is a comprehensive public co-educational high day school, located in Harvey, a regional centre south of Perth, Western Australia. Overview The school was established in 1958 and by 2012 had an enrolment of 220 students between Year 8 and Year 12, approximately 8% of whom were Indigenous Australians. The school operated as a junior high school from 1958 to 1962 when it moved from the present primary school site to the current site on the South Western Highway. The agricultural wing was split from the high school in 1998. The current principal is David Gault, as of 2022. Enrolment as of 2021 is 211. The Shire of Harvey is a local government area of Western Australia. Harvey is located in the state's South West region, approximately 140 km south of Perth, and includes some of Bunbury's northern suburbs. The shire covers an area of 1,728 km² and had a population of approximately 26,500 as at the 2016 Census. Around 12% of the population are of Southern or Eastern European origin. It contains three large towns, Harvey, Australind and Brunswick Junction and a number of smaller towns. ''Australia's Next Top Model'' is an Australian reality television series which premiered on 11 January 2005 and concluded on 22 November 2016, and was based on Tyra Banks' ''America's Next Top Model''. It was broadcast on the Australian subscription television channel, Fox8. Premise The series featured a group of young female contestants who attended preliminary auditions across Australia with finalists selected to star in the series proper, where they ended up living together in a house for several weeks whilst taking part in lectures, challenges, photo shoots and meetings with members of the modelling industry. The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is the national broadcaster of Australia.
