Harvey, Texas
Harvey is an unincorporated community in Brazos County, in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had a population of 310 in 2000. It is located within the Bryan-College Station metropolitan area. History Harvey was established in 1879 and was named for the "Father of Brazos County", Colonel Harvey Mitchell, who settled in Boonville and contributed to the area's development. The community was first settled by planters in the 1860s and grew up around Bethel Church. A community center was established in the 1970s. A post office was established at Harvey in 1890 with J.W. Barron as postmaster. The community also had a general store (ran by Barron), a gristmill, and a cotton gin. Ranching became the dominant force of the community when the soil diminished after cotton production. Harvey had a population of 25 in 1910. Bryan Independent School District is a public school district based in Bryan, Texas (USA). It also serves rural areas in northern Brazos County, and a small portion of Robertson County. Bryan, Texas
Bryan is a city and the county seat of Brazos County, Texas, United States. It is located in the heart of the Brazos Valley (East and Central Texas). As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 83,980. Bryan borders the city of College Station, which lies to its south. Together they are referred to as the Bryan–College Station metropolitan area, which has a population of more than 250,069. Boonville, Texas
Boonville was the first county seat of Brazos County, Texas, now a ghost town. History Boonville was the county seat in Brazos County (formerly known as Navasota County) from the 1840s to the 1860s. Boonville was named in honor of Mordecai Boon, Sr., nephew of Daniel Boone. When the Houston and Texas Central Railway was extended from Millican to Bryan in 1866, Bryan was made the county seat. The former town site is now located in Bryan near State Highway 6. Since the 1990s, a cemetery on Boonville Road has been the last remaining structure associated with Boonville. It is marked by a Texas Centennial monument. The area around the cemetery is now the Boonville Heritage Park as of early 2015.
