Hartney, Manitoba
Hartney is an unincorporated urban community in the Municipality of Grassland within the Canadian province of Manitoba that held town status prior to January 1, 2015. It along the Souris River. Originally established in 1882, the community is named after James Harvey Hartney, an early postmaster in the district. The Hollywood film '' The Lookout'' featuring Jeff Daniels and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and the film ''The Stone Angel'' featuring Ellen Burstyn, were filmed in Hartney in 2006; taking advantage of such buildings as the community's grain elevator and museum. Hartney's local Member of Legislative Assembly is Doyle Piwniuk and the Member of Parliament for the area is Brandon—Souris MP Larry Maguire. Six kilometres west of Hartney are the Lauder Sand Hills. Henry Champ
Stephen Henry Champ (12 July 1937 – 23 September 2012) was a veteran Canadian broadcast journalist, working for CTV News, NBC News and CBC News. Champ was born in Brandon, Manitoba, and studied arts at Brandon University in 1957 and 1958 (he did not graduate), with his first journalism job coming in 1960 as a sportswriter at the ''Brandon Sun''. He transitioned to the world of television, working as a news correspondent at CTV for fifteen years, where he attained the role of Bureau Chief for CTV in Washington, D.C., Montreal and London. Henry Lewis Morrison (born February 11, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played 564 National Hockey League (NHL) games for the Philadelphia Flyers, Atlanta Flames, Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins between 1969 and 1978. 2021 Canadian Census
The 2021 Canadian census was a detailed enumeration of the Canadian population with a reference date of May 11, 2021. It follows the 2016 Canadian census, which recorded a population of 35,151,728. The overall response rate was 98%, which is slightly lower than the response rate for the 2016 census. It recorded a population of 36,991,981, a 5.2% increase from 2016. Planning Consultation on census program content was from September 11 to December 8, 2017. The census was conducted by Statistics Canada, and was contactless as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. The agency had considered delaying the census until 2022.
