Harshana Rajakaruna
Rajakaruna Mohotti Appuhamillage Harshana Supun Rajakaruna (known as Harshana Rajakaruna born 27 February 1980) is a Sri Lankan politician. He is a Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament from the United National Party and a former member of the Western Provincial Council. Born to Sarathchandra Rajakaruna, Harshana was educated at Royal College, Colombo, played cricket for the college at the Royal–Thomian. He went on to gain a degree in management from the University of Nottingham and an MBA from the University of Wales, Cardiff. On his return to Sri Lanka he worked at John Keells Stock Brokers as a Senior Investment Advisor. He was a member of the executive committee, National Youth League Working Committee, Sports Committee, Economic Committee and Buddhist Committee of the United National Party. 2015 Sri Lankan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Sri Lanka on 17 August 2015, ten months ahead of schedule, to elect 225 members to Sri Lanka's 15th Parliament. The United National Party (UNP) led United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) won 106 seats, an increase of 46 since the 2010 election, but failed to secure a majority in Parliament. The United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) won 95 seats, a decline of 49. The Tamil National Alliance (TNA), the largest party representing Sri Lankan Tamils, won 16 seats, an increase of two from 2010. The remaining eight seats were won by Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (6), Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (1) and Eelam People's Democratic Party (1). Shri (; , ) is a Sanskrit term denoting resplendence, wealth and prosperity, primarily used as an honorific. The Samagi Jana Balawegaya (, ta, ஐக்கிய மக்கள் சக்தி, "United People's Power") is a political alliance that is led by the opposition leader of Sri Lanka, Sajith Premadasa. The alliance was formed with the approval from the working committee of the United National Party (UNP) to contest the 2020 Sri Lankan parliamentary election. On 11 February 2020 the election commission of Sri Lanka announced that they have accepted the party as a recognised political party in Sri Lanka.
