Harry Webb (politician)
Charles Harry Webb (2 February 1908 – 15 November 2000) was an Australian politician. Born in England, he migrated to Australia in 1913 and was educated at state schools, after which he became a locomotive engineman. He rose to become Secretary of the Western Australian branch of the Australian Federated Union of Locomotive Enginemen, and was a member of the executive of the Australian Council of Trade Unions. He was also president of the Western Australian Trades Union Industrial Council, and served as president of the Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), Western Australian Branch of the Australian Labor Party from 1946 to 1955. In 1954, he was elected to the Australian House of Representatives as the Labor member for Division of Swan, Swan, and transferred to the new seat of Division of Stirling, Stirling in 1955. Division Of Swan
The Division of Swan is an Australian electoral division located in Western Australia. Swan is a marginal electorate that has swung between both major political parties in the past two decades. It extends across the Swan River from central Perth, and covers most of the area between the Swan and Canning Rivers. Swan includes the suburbs of South Perth, Como, Victoria Park, Rivervale, Belmont, High Wycombe, Maida Vale, Forrestfield and Wattle Grove. Swan includes a mix of incomes and housing types, from low-price flats to affluent suburbs with Swan River views. The electorate includes the campus of Curtin University, the Welshpool and Kewdale industrial areas, and Perth Airport. Swan covers 151 sq. kilometers. A train driver, engine driver, engineman or locomotive driver, commonly known as an engineer or railroad engineer in the United States and Canada, and also as a locomotive handler, locomotive operator, train operator, or motorman, is a person who drives a train, multiple unit or a locomotive. The Australian Labor Party (Western Australian Branch), commonly known as WA Labor, is the Western Australian branch of the Australian Labor Party. It is the current governing party of Western Australia since winning the 2017 election under Mark McGowan.
