Harry Leon "Suitcase" Simpson (November 30, 1924 – April 3, 1979) was an American outfielder and first baseman in Major League Baseball who played for the Cleveland Indians, Kansas City Athletics, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Pittsburgh Pirates in his eight-year career. He played in the World Series with the New York Yankees in 1957, which they lost. Career A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Simpson began his professional career with the Philadelphia Stars of the Negro National League, where he played from 1946 to 1948. Simpson became one of the earliest black players in the American League, playing first with the Cleveland Indians in . Casey Stengel once called him the best defensive right fielder in the American League. That his nickname of "Suitcase" came from his being frequently traded during his playing career is a common misconception. Henry "Harry" William Simpson (2 June 1928 – 20 February 2014) was an Australian rules football Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by k ...er who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Simpson signed with Sandringham in the VFA in 1952 but was persuaded to transfer to Williamstown and played for the VFA Seagulls up until the end of 1955, when he went to Dimboola as captain-coach. He played 75 games and kicked 82 goals for Williamstown, which included the 1954 & 1955 premierships. Harry Simpson (born 1875) was an English footballer who played in the Football League for Crewe Alexandra and Stoke. Career Simpson was born in Stoke-upon-Trent and began his career with nearby Crewe Alexandra. Harry B. Simpson (1885 – 7 November 1955) was an English professional golfer. He finished third in the 1914 Open Championship. Early life Simpson was born in Ganton, Yorkshire in 1885. He learnt his golf at Ganton Golf Club where Harry Vardon was the professional. Simpson had an older brother, Tom, and a younger brother, Amos, who were also professional golfers. Golf career Simpson was at Anson Golf Club, Manchester from 1903 to 1905 and then at Warrington, Lytham and Fairhaven before moving to St Anne’s Old Links in 1911. Simpson had a brief period as a successful tournament golfer, making an impact in 1913 and 1914. In 1913 he qualified for the Sphere and Tatler Foursomes Tournament, the Open Championship and News of the World Match Play. He also played a number of exhibition matches during the year. Henry George (Harry) Simpson (1886-1967) was a municipal politician in East York, Ontario, in Metropolitan Toronto. A retired bank manager, he served as Reeve of East York for seven years, and was a founding member of Metropolitan Toronto Council. Simpson was first elected to East York township council in 1945 and served a year as deputy reeve. A supporter of the Conservative Party, he was first elected reeve in 1950 and remained in office until 1956 when he chose to run as an ordinary township councillor rather than for re-election as reeve.
