Harry MacDonald (racing Driver)
Harry MacDonald (born September 27, 1940) is a retired Canadian racing driver. He raced in the UK Formula Super Vee series from 1977 to 1979 and in 1978 won a race at Texas World Speedway and finished third in the championship. In 1981 he attempted to qualify for the Indianapolis 500 but failed to do so, then competed in the United States Auto Club, USAC "Gold Crown" Championship Car race at Pocono Raceway where he finished 5th in a field of very few top drivers, then competed in the Champ Car, CART race at Michigan International Speedway and finished 21st after an engine failure. He resurfaced in 1983 to attempt to qualify for the Indy 500 but again failed to do so. MacDonald was born in Windsor, Ontario. He was a lawyer by trade and ran a law firm in his hometown of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Harry MacDonald (cricketer)
Harry Lindsay Somerled MacDonald (2 August 1861 – 15 August 1936) played first-class cricket for Somerset in 1896. He was born in Westminster, London and died at Bathford, Somerset. Military career MacDonald was the only son of Lieutenant-Colonel William MacDonald of the 93rd (Sutherland Highlanders) Regiment of Foot. He himself was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Fife division of the Royal Artillery in 1879. In 1883, he was promoted from lieutenant to captain in the fourth brigade of the Scottish Division of the Royal Artillery. He resigned his commission in 1887 and resigned from the reserve of officers in 1892. Cricket career MacDonald played club cricket in the Bath area of Somerset in the 1890s. His one first-class match came in a very weak Somerset side in the match against Cambridge University in 1896: he scored 0 in the first innings and top-scored with an unbeaten 22 in the second innings, taking two catches in Cambridge's first innings. Henry MacDonald VC (28 May 1823 – 15 February 1893) was a Scottish recipient of the Victoria Cross, the highest and most prestigious award for gallantry in the face of the enemy that can be awarded to British and Commonwealth forces. Details MacDonald was 31 years old, and a colour sergeant in the Corps of Royal Engineers, British Army during the Crimean War when the following deed took place for which he was awarded the VC. On 19 April 1855 at Sebastopol, Crimea, Colour-Sergeant MacDonald acted with great gallantry when engaged in effecting a lodgement in the enemy's rifle-pits in front of the left advance of the Right Attack. Subsequently, when the Engineer officers were badly wounded Colour-Sergeant MacDonald took command and he determinedly persisted in carrying on the sap notwithstanding the repeated attacks of the enemy.
