Harry Butler (aviator)
Henry John 'Harry' Butler AFC (9 November 1889 – 30 July 1924) was a pioneer Australian aviator, Captain and Chief Fight Instructor in the Royal Flying Corps during World War I. Yorketown, South Australia
Yorketown is a town and a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the southern Yorke Peninsula about west of the state capital of Adelaide and about south of the municipal seat of Maitland. At the 2016 census, the locality had a population of 969 of which 642 lived in its town centre. History Yorketown began as a private sub-division in section 85 of the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Melville in 1872. Its name was declared by the Surveyor General of South Australia as an official place name on 16 November 1995. Point Cook is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, south-west of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Wyndham local government area. Jubilee 150 Walkway
The Jubilee 150 Walkway, also variously known as the Jubilee 150 Commemorative Walk, the Jubilee 150 Walk, Jubilee 150 Plaques, the Jubilee Walk, or simply J150, is a series of (initially) 150 bronze plaques set into the pavement of North Terrace, Adelaide from King William Street to Pulteney Street. It was officially opened on 21 December 1986. It was commissioned as part of the celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the founding of the British Province of South Australia on 28 December 1836. The plaques contain the names and deeds of (initially) 170 people who made major contributions to the founding and development of South Australia. Since 1986, the Adelaide City Council has added four plaques. Hendon, South Australia
Hendon is a north-western suburb of Adelaide, South Australia, 9.8 km from the Adelaide city centre. It is located in the City of Charles Sturt. History Initially part of Albert Park in the district of Woodville, the new suburb of Hendon was laid out in 1921 by Wilkinson, Sands and Wyles Ltd, on part of the land previously owned by the aviator, Harry Butler, who established the adjacent aerodrome there in 1920. Consequently, several streets were named after aircraft. The site of the "Hendon" aerodrome, also known as "Captain Butler's Aerodrome", was compulsorily acquired in July 1922 by the Civil Aviation branch of the Department of Defence, and used as the first "Adelaide Airport". Northfield is a suburb of the greater Adelaide, South Australia area. History The earliest known record of the name "Northfield" being used in reference to the area is 1852. This was a newspaper entry in the ''South Australia Register'' 4 October 1852 on the marriage notice of John Lewis to Harriet Ricketts of Northfield. Northfield was known as "Northfield, Dry Creek" as early as 1855 and the Free Labour stone quarry worked by Convicts at that time was later to become the Prison Quarry. The suburb was serviced by the former Northfield railway line and Northfield railway station from the opening of the line in 1857, until its closure to passenger traffic on 29 May 1987. Hendon Aerodrome Plaque
Hendon is an urban area in the Borough of Barnet, North-West London northwest of Charing Cross. Hendon was an ancient manor and parish in the county of Middlesex and a former borough, the Municipal Borough of Hendon; it has been part of Greater London since 1965. Hendon falls almost entirely within the NW4 postcode, while the West Hendon part falls in NW9. Colindale to the north-west was once considered part of Hendon but is today separated by the M1 motorway. The district is most famous for the London Aerodrome which later became the RAF Hendon; from 1972 the site of the RAF station was gradually handed over to the RAF Museum.
