Harry Bates Thayer
Harry Bates Thayer (August 17, 1858 – September 3, 1936), was an American electrical and telephone businessman. Early life Thayer was born on August 17, 1858 in Northfield, Vermont. He was a son of James Carey Barroll Thayer (1824–1897) and Martha Jane ( née Pratt) Thayer (1824–1869), a daughter of John A. and Sarah Pratt. His father, a son of Samuel White Thayer and Ruth (née Packard) Thayer, owned a clothing store and was a founder of Northfield Savings Bank. He was a descendant of Alden Thayer, Governor Brewster, and other early New England settlors. He was educated at Northfield High School in Northfield, Vermont. He then attended Norwich University (the Military College of Vermont) for 2 years before attending Dartmouth College, from which he graduated in 1879. Theodore Newton Vail
Theodore Newton Vail (July 16, 1845 – April 16, 1920) was president of American Telephone & Telegraph between 1885 and 1889, and again from 1907 to 1919. Vail saw telephone service as a public utility and moved to consolidate telephone networks under the Bell system. In 1913 he oversaw the Kingsbury Commitment that led to a more open system for connection. Ransomville is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in the Town of Porter in Niagara County, New York, United States. The population was 1,419 at the 2010 census. Henry George Stebbins Noble (March 9, 1859 – February 6, 1946) was president of the New York Stock Exchange from 1914 to 1919. Early life Henry George Stebbins Noble was born in New York City, New York on March 9, 1859, and named after his maternal grandfather. He was a son of Timothy Fitzgerald Noble (b. 1827) and Fanny Juliet Stebbins (1834–1907).
