Harry Anand
Harvinder "Harry" Anand is the former Mayor of Laurel Hollow, New York; he was elected on June 19, 2007. He is the first elected Indian-American mayor in the state of New York. He was sworn into office on July 2, 2007. In June 2011, he was reelected to his third term as mayor. He did not run for a fourth term in 2013. Anand is a chemical engineer who graduated from Punjab University in Chandigarh, India and later immigrated to the United States in 1982. He is the President of the now sold Royce International, an American company involved in the distribution of industrial chemicals. Anand also serves as the Commissioner of Police for Laurel Hollow. He attended the Civilian Police Academy in Nassau County, New York. He also serves as the Director of the Nassau County Law Enforcement Exploring Advisory Board. Laurel Hollow
Laurel Hollow is a village in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 1,952 at the 2010 census. According to Bloomberg BusinessWeek, Laurel Hollow was the eighth wealthiest town in America. History The settlement began ''circa'' 1653 with purchase of land from the local natives. The village was incorporated in 1926 as "Lauralton," but the name was changed to "Laurel Hollow" in 1935 to avoid postal confusion with Laurelton in Queens. Today, Laurel Hollow is served by post offices in the hamlets of Syosset, Oyster Bay, Woodbury and Cold Spring Harbor. The globally renowned Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is located in the village. American Sikhs number nearly 500,000 people and account for 0.1% of the United States population as of 2021, forming the country's seventh-largest religious group.
