Harry A. Corey
Harry Allen Corey (March 12, 1901 – January 20, 1989) was a Canadian entrepreneur and politician. In 1924, he married Nelda Stairs, daughter of Ernest W. Stairs, a prominent Southampton, New Brunswick, farmer and a member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick. Corey entered the lumber business in his early twenties, first working in forestry in his home area in northern York County, New Brunswick before settling in Millinocket, Maine, where Great Northern Paper Company owned vast timberlands and operated the second largest newsprint mill in the state. Unusual for the time, his wife Nelda played an active role in the creation and development of the family's lumber business which led the couple to the small community of Harvey, New Brunswick, where they made their permanent home in the 1930s. Pinder, New Brunswick
Pinder is a Canadian community in York County, New Brunswick at the intersection of Route 595 and Route 605 on the Nackawic River. It is adjacent to the community of Temperance Vale and was named for sawmill owner and member of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, James K. Pinder. It is located 5.71 km NNE of Nackawic-Millville. A post office was established here in 1912, which was removed in 1938. It also had a Canadian Pacific Railway station. John Rutherford Messer
John Rutherford "Ford" Messer (December 10, 1889 - May 27, 1949) was a Canadian businessman and politician in the Province of New Brunswick. Messer was born in the rural community of Tweedside, New Brunswick. He operated a meat business in his home area and was also a dealer in horses. In 1910 he married Annie Piercy Lister with whom he had two children. She died in 1939 and he later married the widow of William McElroy. Elected to the York County Council in 1937, Ford Messer served until his death in 1949. In the 1939 New Brunswick general election he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as a Conservative Party candidate for the multi-member riding of York County. Messer served one term in the 39th New Brunswick Legislative Assembly until he was defeated in the 1944 election by the Liberal Party candidate, Harry Corey. Percy Burchill
George Percival Burchill (November 3, 1889 – August 22, 1977) was a lumber merchant and political figure. He sat for Northumberland-Miramichi division in the Senate of Canada from 1945 to 1977 as a Liberal. He was born in Nelson, New Brunswick, the son of John Percival Burchill and Eliza B. Wilkinson. Percy Burchill was educated in Newcastle and then graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a Bachelor of Science in forestry in 1910. In 1916, Percy Burchill married Jean Gordon Garden. Burchill succeeded his father as president of the firm George Burchill and Sons. The records of the Burchill family's shipbuilding and lumber operations spanning more than a century were deposited at the Provincial Archives by Percy BurchillHe was also chairman of the board of the New Brunswick Telephone Company and a director for Montreal Trust Co.
