History In 1839, a survey baseline of was marked out on the floodplain, then known as ''Normanby Plains'', which now forms part of Harrisville, together with Wilsons Plains and Radford to the south. It was supervised by the surveyor Robert Dixon as the basis of a trigonometrical survey starting with Flinders Peak to the east and Mount Walker (then Mount Forbes) to the west, which began the accurate interior mapping of Queensland. 	Harrisville Township, Michigan Harrisville Township is a civil township of Alcona County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,348 at the 2010 census. Harrisville Township surrounds the city of Harrisville, but the two are administered autonomously. 	Harrisville, Virginia Harrisville is a town in Ritchie County, West Virginia, United States. It is the county seat of Ritchie County. Harrisville is located at the junction of State Routes 31 and 16, five miles south of U.S. 50. Within the community are an elementary school, the county board of education, many businesses, three banks, a library, offices of the ''Ritchie Gazette'' and ''The Pennsboro News'', a municipal park, and North Bend Golf Course. The town contains two villages, Sherburne and Earlville. The town is at the northern border of Chenango County. History The area that became Sherburne, part of the Chenango River valley, was originally inhabited by the Oneida people, until the late 1780s when the state of New York purchased the land from them. These parcels were later sold at auction in New York City. The settlement of Sherburne occurred around 1792 near the present-day Sherburne village.
