Harris And Frank
Harris & Frank was a clothing retailer and major chain in the history of retail in Southern California, which at its peak had around 40 stores across Southern California and in neighboring states and regions. Its history dates back to a clothing store founded by Leopold Harris in Los Angeles in 1856 near the city's central plaza, only eight years after the city had passed from Mexican to American control. Herman W. Frank joined Harris in partnership 32 years later in 1888. Leopold Harris Harris was born in 1836, Löbau, then in the Province of Prussia, Kingdom of Prussia, now Lubawa, Poland, brother of Morris Herschkowitz. The town was also the birthplace of prominent Los Angeles businessman Harris Newmark and of the Jacoby Brothers, who also founded a major Los Angeles department store. Chula Vista Center is an outdoor shopping mall in Chula Vista, California. Opened in 1962, it features Burlington Coat Factory, JCPenney, and Macy's, with one vacant anchor last occupied by Sears. It is owned and managed by Brookfield Properties. History Construction started in 1961 on the new shopping center designed by Charles Luckman & Associates and built by Del E. Webb Corporation. Chula Vista Center opened in 1962 as "one of the country's earliest regional malls". One of its original anchor stores was Marston's, which was later bought out by The Broadway, who also developed the mall. Harris Company
The Harris Company was a retail corporation, based in San Bernardino, California, that operated a chain of department stores named Harris', all in Southern California. Philip, Arthur, and Herman Harris - nephews of founder Leopold Harris of what was once the large Los Angeles-based chain Harris & Frank – started the company with a small dry goods store in 1905, and the company eventually grew to nine large department stores, with stores in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Kern Counties. The chain was acquired by Fresno, California-based Gottschalks in 1998. After the acquisition some of the stores continued to operate under the name Harris Gottschalks. In January, 2009, Gottschalks filed for bankruptcy, and on March 31 announced they were liquidating all stores. Botany 500 is an American brand of menswear & suits that was originally part of a firm based in New York City. The name lives on today as a licensed property by several foreign clothing manufacturers. Manufacturing Botany 500 was a brand name owned by the Botany 500 Group of New York. Their men's suits and sport coats were manufactured in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by H. Daroff and Sons, who were contracted with Botany Mills of Passaic, New Jersey, to produce products and later bought the firm outright.
