Harpoon (comics)
Harpoon (Kodiak Noatak) is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a member of the mutant assassin team known as Marauders, who are employed by Mister Sinister. Little is known about Harpoon other than that he is Inuit. Publication history Harpoon first appeared in ''Uncanny X-Men'' #210-211 (October–November 1986), and was created by Chris Claremont, John Romita, Jr. and Dan Green. Harpoon01
A harpoon is a long spear-like instrument and tool used in fishing, whaling, seal hunting, sealing, and other marine hunting to catch and injure large fish or marine mammals such as seals and whales. It accomplishes this task by impaling the target animal and securing it with barb or toggling claws, allowing the fishermen to use a rope or chain attached to the projectile to catch the animal. A harpoon can also be used as a weapon. Certain harpoons are made with different builds to perform better with the type of target being aimed at. For example, the Inuit have short, fixed foreshaft harpoons for hunting seals at their breathing holes while loose shafted ones are made for attaching to the game thrown at. The Horsemen of Apocalypse are a team of supervillain characters appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The Horsemen of Apocalypse are first mentioned in ''X-Factor'' #10 (Nov. 1986), and make their full appearance in ''X-Factor'' #15 (April 1987) where they were created by writer Louise Simonson and artist Walt Simonson. The first comic-book characters of this name were an unrelated team of aliens from the race known as the Axi-Tun that attacked Earth in ancient and modern times. They appeared in ''Giant Size Fantastic Four'' #3 (Nov. 1974). Jean Grey
Jean Elaine Grey is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character has been known under the aliases Marvel Girl, Phoenix and Dark Phoenix. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist/co-plotter Jack Kirby, the character first appeared in '' The X-Men'' #1 (Sept. 1963). Jean is a member of a subspecies of humans known as mutants, who are born with superhuman abilities. She was born with telepathic and telekinetic powers. Her powers first manifested when she saw her childhood friend being hit by a car. She is a caring, nurturing figure, but she also has to deal with being an Omega-level mutant and the physical manifestation of the cosmic Phoenix Force.
