Harold Maurice Kennedy (August 6, 1895 – July 1, 1971) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Education and career Born in Brooklyn, New York, Kennedy received an Artium Baccalaureus degree from the City College of New York in 1917, a Bachelor of Laws from Brooklyn Law School in 1924 and a Juris Doctor The Juris Doctor (J.D. or JD), also known as Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D., JD, D.Jur., or DJur), is a graduate-entry professional degree in law and one of several Doctor of Law degrees. The United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York (in case citations, E.D.N.Y.) is the federal district court whose territorial jurisdiction spans five counties in New York State: the four Long Island counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Kings (Brooklyn), and Queens, as well as Richmond (Staten Island), the latter three being among New York City's five boroughs. The court also has concurrent jurisdiction with the Southern District of New York over the waters of New York (Manhattan) and Bronx Counties (including New York Harbor and the East River). Its courthouses are located in Brooklyn and Central Islip.
