Harold Holmes (rugby League)
Harold Holmes (1894-1954) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1910s and 1920s who played for Western Suburbs, South Sydney and Eastern Suburbs in the NSWRL competition. His position was at second-row. Playing career Holmes made his first grade debut for Western Suburbs against Annandale at St Luke's Park now known as Concord Oval. Holmes scored a try in a 11–6 victory. The following year, Holmes switched clubs and joined South Sydney. In his first year with Souths, Holmes played 13 games as the club won the 1918 premiership. Lakemba () is a suburb south west of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Lakemba is located 12 kilometres south west of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown. It is one of the easternmost suburbs in Greater Western Sydney. Geography Lakemba is in the Cooks River watershed. This river is tidal up to the edge of Lakemba. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia. Concord Oval
Concord Oval (also Waratah Stadium), is a rugby football stadium in the inner-west Sydney suburb of Concord, Australia. The stadium is able to hold 5,000 people as of November 2022, down from 20,000 when the Concord Oval was opened in 1985. , it is used mostly for rugby union matches and hosted eight matches during the 1987 Rugby World Cup.
