Harold G. Bradbury
Harold G. Bradbury (May 30, 1899-Apr. 16, 1984) was a rear admiral in the United States Coast Guard. Biography Bradbury was born on May 30, 1899 in Necedah, Wisconsin. He graduated from high school in Port Angeles, Washington before attending Oregon State University. Bradbury married Helen Hutchinson on January 6, 1953. Career Bradbury entered the United States Coast Guard Academy in 1918 and received his commission in 1920. He later served aboard the USCGC Acushnet, the USS Henley (DD-39) and the USS Trippe (DD-33). In 1928, Bradbury assumed command of the USCGC Apache. He remained in the position until 1930. After serving as executive officer of the USCGC Northland (WPG-49), he assumed command of the USS Davis (DD-65). Bradbury then served as an instructor at the Coast Guard Academy from 1933 until 1937, at which time he was named commanding officer of the USCGC Modoc (WPG-46). USS ''Leonard Wood'' (APA-12) was built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation and launched 17 September 1921 at Sparrows Point, Maryland as ''Nutmeg State'', an Emergency Fleet Corporation Design 1029 ship intended as a World War I troop transport, but redesigned upon the armistice as a passenger and cargo ship and completed as ''Western World'' for delivery to the United States Shipping Board. This is a list of notable alumni of Oregon State University, a university in Corvallis, Oregon in the United States. The university traces its roots back to 1856 when Corvallis Academy was founded. It wasn't formally incorporated until 1858 when the name was changed to Corvallis College, and wasn't chartered until 1868. Bronze Star Medal
The Bronze Star Medal (BSM) is a United States Armed Forces decoration awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces for either heroic achievement, heroic service, meritorious achievement, or meritorious service in a combat zone. When the medal is awarded by the Army, Air Force, or Space Force for acts of valor in combat, the "V" device is authorized for wear on the medal. When the medal is awarded by the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard for acts of valor or meritorious service in combat, the Combat "V" is authorized for wear on the medal. USCGC Duane (WPG-33)
USCGC ''Duane'' (WPG-33/WAGC-6/WHEC-33) (earlier known as the USCGC ''William J. Duane'') was a cutter in the United States Coast Guard. Her keel was laid on May 1, 1935 at the Philadelphia Navy Yard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was launched on June 3, 1936 as a search and rescue and law enforcement vessel. The Treasury-class Coast Guard cutters (sometimes referred to as the "Secretary" or 327-foot class) were all named for former Secretaries of the Treasury Department. The cutter ''Duane'' was named for William J. Duane, who served as the third Secretary of the Treasury to serve under President Andrew Jackson.
