Harley Wood
Evelyn Merchant (August 25, 1913 – April 2, 1995), known professionally as Harlene Wood (also Harley Wood, Jill Martin, Jill Jackson, and Jill Jackson-Miller) was an American film actress, composer, writer and author. She appeared in 20 films between 1935 and 1953. Film actress Wood entered show business as a radio actress before entering films in 1934. She appeared in approximately 20 films, playing small bit roles. Modern viewers will recognize her work in three 1937 Three Stooges films, ''Dizzy Doctors'', '' Back to the Woods'' and '' Cash and Carry''. Songwriter In addition to her film work, Wood composed the song " Let There Be Peace on Earth" (1955) under the name "Jill Jackson-Miller," having adopted her surname from husband, songwriter Sy Miller. The song was popular enough to be used in the American Peace Crusade and earned her George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedoms Foundation. The Three Stooges
The Three Stooges were an American vaudeville and comedy team active from 1922 until 1970, best remembered for their 190 short subject films by Columbia Pictures. Their hallmark styles were physical farce and slapstick. Six Stooges appeared over the act's run (with only three active at any given time): Moe Howard (born Moses Horwitz) and Larry Fine (born Louis Feinberg) were mainstays throughout the ensemble's nearly 50-year run and the pivotal "third stooge" was played by (in order of appearance) Shemp Howard (born Samuel Horwitz), Curly Howard (born Jerome Horwitz), Shemp Howard again, Joe Besser, and "Curly Joe" DeRita. Plot The Stooges return home to their shack in the city dump after six months of unsuccessful prospecting. Just as they get to the dump, their last car tire blows. Felix Jackson (born Felix Joachimson; June 5, 1902 – December 7, 1992) was a German-born American screenwriter and film producer. Biography Jackson was born in Hamburg. He was a city editor in Germany at 21, then a dramatic and music critic, and helped manage three theaters in Berlin. He joined Joe Pasternak as a producer in Budapest in 1933. He began working in the German film industry, before relocating after the rise of the Nazi party. He moved to Austria and Hungary in the mid-1930s where he frequently collaborated with the director Henry Koster. His screenplay for the 1935 film '' Little Mother'' served as the basis for a Hollywood remake ''Bachelor Mother'' (1939) which was nominated for an Academy Award. "Let There Be Peace on Earth" is a song written by Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller in 1955. It was initially written for and sung by the International Children's Choir created by Easter Beakly and Arthur Granger of the Granger Dance Academy in Long Beach, California.
