Adrian Harewood is a Canadian television and radio journalist, and the anchor of CBOT's ''CBC News: Ottawa at 5/5:30/6'' and ''CBC News: Late Night'' in Ottawa. An Ottawa native, Harewood attended Ashbury College, a private school in Rockcliffe, where he was headboy. Harewood volunteered for CKCU-FM and CHUO-FM before moving to Montreal, earning a degree from McGill University in political science and becoming a programmer and station manager for CKUT-FM. At CKUT, he hosted a weekly program, ''Soul Perspective'', about Black Canadian issues. David Harewood MBE (born 8 December 1965) is a British actor and presenter. He is best known for his roles as CIA Counterterrorism Director David Estes in ''Homeland'' (2011–2012), and as J'onn J'onzz / Martian Manhunter and Hank Henshaw / Cyborg Superman in ''Supergirl'' (2015–2021). Early life Harewood was born on 8 December 1965 in the Small Heath area of Birmingham, the son of a couple from Barbados who had moved to England in the late 1950s and early 1960s. His father was a lorry driver, while his mother was a caterer. He has a sister, Sandra, and two brothers, Rodger and Paul. He attended St Benedict's Junior School and Washwood Heath Academy. He was a member of the National Youth Theatre. In his youth, he worked at a wine bar in Birmingham city centre. At the age of 18, he gained a place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. Marlon Anderson Harewood (born 25 August 1979) is an English former professional footballer who played as a striker. Harewood started his career at Nottingham Forest. During his career there, he had loan spells at Haka and Ipswich Town before joining West Ham United in 2003 and then Aston Villa in 2007. In 2009, he spent short periods on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers and Newcastle United. History The title was created in 1812 for Edward Lascelles, 1st Earl of Harewood, Edward Lascelles, 1st Baron Harewood, a wealthy sugar plantation owner and former Member of Parliament for Northallerton (UK Parliament constituency), Northallerton. He had already been created Baron Harewood, of Harewood, West Yorkshire, Harewood in the County of York, in 1796, in the Peerage of Great Britain, and was made Viscount Lascelles at the same time as he was given the earldom. The viscountcy is used as the courtesy title by the heir apparent to the earldom. Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood (Victoria Alexandra Alice Mary; 25 April 1897 – 28 March 1965), was a member of the British royal family.
