Hare Splitter
''Hare Splitter'' is a 1948 Warner Bros. '' Merrie Melodies'' animated short directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on September 25, 1948, and features Bugs Bunny. The title is a play on "hair splitting", or focusing too much on fine details, reflecting how Bugs (a "hare") tries to "split up" Casbah and Daisy Lou so Bugs can date her himself. Plot Bugs Bunny and his next door neighbor, Casbah, are preparing to go on a date with Daisy Lou, but a fight for Daisy Lou begins as soon as Casbah and Bugs exit their rabbit holes. Bugs and Casbah both leave their holes with flowers for Daisy Lou. Seeing each other's gifts, they try to outdo each other with bigger and better gifts. Bugs finally throws an anvil on Casbah’s head to get rid of him. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. ''A-Lad-In His Lamp'' is a 1948 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' cartoon. The short stars Bugs Bunny, and features the Genie and Caliph Hassan Pfeffer, who is after Bugs and the genie in his lamp. The voices of Bugs Bunny and Caliph Hassan Pfeffer are voiced by Mel Blanc, and the voice of the genie is played by Jim Backus. The cartoon is a takeoff of the story of '' Aladdin's Lamp''. Elements of this short would later be re-used for the Arabian era in '' Bugs Bunny & Taz: Time Busters''. Plot Bugs finds Aladdin's lamp while digging a rabbit hole; believing that it is junk, he starts to clean it, rubbing off the dirt so that he can use it as an ashtray. ''Hot Cross Bunny'' is a 1948 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies theatrical animated short. The short was released on August 21, 1948, and features Bugs Bunny. The title is a play on the nursery rhyme ''Hot Cross Buns'' as well as a punny allusion to the basic plot premise. Plot Bugs is "Experimental Rabbit #46" in the Eureka Hospital Experimental Laboratory, Paul Revere Foundation (which sports the unencouraging slogan 'Hardly a man is now alive' in punning allusion to Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "Paul Revere's Ride"). Bugs lives a pampered life, oblivious to the fact that a scientist plans on switching his brain (or at least his personality, since no surgery is involved) with that of a chicken.
