Hare Force
''Hare Force'' is a 1944 Warner Bros. cartoon in the ''Merrie Melodies'' series, directed by Friz Freleng. The cartoon was released on July 22, 1944, and stars Bugs Bunny. Plot On a cold and snowy night, Bugs wangles his way into the good graces and – more importantly – the house of an old lady (voiced by Bea Benaderet). Sylvester, her dog (voiced by writer Tedd Pierce), takes an instant dislike to the Bunny, and most of the cartoon is spent with the two tricking each other into going outside the house and getting locked out. Finally they get into a schtick where they are each throwing the other out the front door, in quick succession. The old lady, fed up with all the bickering by now, intervenes and tells them both to get out, when suddenly she is thrown out, startled and indignant. Friz Freleng
Isadore "Friz" Freleng (August 21, 1905May 26, 1995), credited as I. Freleng early in his career, was an American animator, cartoonist, director, producer, and composer known for his work at Warner Bros. Cartoons on the ''Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons. In total he created more than 300 cartoons. He introduced and/or developed several of the studio's biggest stars, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, Tweety, Sylvester, Yosemite Sam (to whom he was said to bear more than a passing resemblance), and Speedy Gonzales. The senior director at Warners' Termite Terrace studio, Freleng directed more cartoons than any other director in the studio (a total of 266), and is also the most honored of the Warner directors, having won five Academy Awards and three Emmy Awards. Granny (Looney Tunes)
Emma Webster, better known as Granny, is a Warner Bros. Cartoons character created by Friz Freleng, best known from ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' animated shorts of the 1950s and 1960s. She is the owner of Tweety (and more often than not, Sylvester and Hector). Her voice was first provided by Bea Benaderet from 1950 through 1955, then by June Foray for almost 60 years then Candi Milo took over in 2017 following Foray’s death. Biography Granny is a good-natured widow who is extremely protective of her beloved canary, Tweety. Granny's overprotectiveness becomes apparent whenever Tweety is threatened, usually by Sylvester. ''Buckaroo Bugs'' is a 1944 American Western '' Looney Tunes'' cartoon film directed by Bob Clampett. The cartoon was released on August 26, 1944, and features Bugs Bunny in his official Looney Tunes debut. Plot The film is set in a small town of the "San Fernando Alley" ( San Fernando Valley).Shull, Wilt (2004), p. 165Young, Young (2010), p. 746 According to the narration, "Our story begins when the West was young, and early pioneers settled down to never more roam, and made the San Fernando Alley their home." Despite its Western setting, the short makes references to World War II rationing. Hare Ribbin'
''Hare Ribbin is a 1944 animated short film in the ''Merrie Melodies'' series, directed by Robert Clampett and featuring Bugs Bunny. The plot features Bugs' conflict with a red-haired hound dog, whom the rabbit sets out to evade and make a fool of using one-liners, reverse psychology, disguises and other tricks. It was released in theaters by Warner Bros. on June 24, 1944. The title is a pun on "hair ribbon". It is also the first Warner Bros. cartoon to include Bugs' head in the opening title sequence. Plot The short opens with a dog with a Russian accent (a la Bert Gordon's "Mad Russian") hunting for a rabbit by sniffing a trail. He happens upon Bugs who begins to torment the dog, after the dog sniffs Bugs' armpit and makes the foghorn noise used in radio commercials for Lifebuoy (soap) to warn against "B.O." (body odor).
