''Hard or Smooth'' is the second album released by Wreckx-n-Effect. It was released on November 24, 1992, for MCA Records and featured production from Teddy Riley, Ty Fyffe, Riley's engineers Franklyn Grant and David Wynn and Wreckx-n—Effect. This marked Wreckx-n-Effect's first album following the death of member Brandon Mitchell, who was shot to death in 1990. ''Hard or Smooth'' became a success for the group thanks in large part to the single " Rump Shaker". The album itself made it to #9 on the ''Billboard'' 200 and #6 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Wreckx-n-Effect (originally Wrecks-n-Effect) is an American new jack swing group from Harlem, New York City most known for their No. 1 Rap songs, " New Jack Swing" & their multi-platinum hit " Rump Shaker". History Wrecks-n-Effect was founded in 1988 by Aqil Davidson, Markell Riley and Brandon "B-Doggs" Mitchell. A fourth member: Keith "K.C." Harris, was added while creating their demo but was a member only on their debut EP. One year later, Davidson, Riley and Mitchell reconvened and recorded their First LP containing New Jack Swing. Markell Riley is the brother of new jack swing producer Teddy Riley. The group debuted in 1988 on Atlantic Records and soon after transitioned to Motown Records. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. The weekly tracking period for sales was initially Monday to Sunday when Nielsen started tracking sales in 1991, but was changed to Friday to Thursday in July 2015. This tracking period also applies to compiling online streaming data. DeBarge was an American musical recording group composed of several members of the DeBarge family. In addition to various solo projects completed by members of the family, DeBarge was active between 1979 and 1989. The group originally consisted of El DeBarge, El, Mark DeBarge, Mark, Randy DeBarge, Randy, and Bunny DeBarge, Bunny. James DeBarge, James joined the group a year later for their second album. Bobby DeBarge, Bobby and Chico DeBarge, Chico joined in 1987 and 1988 respectively, replacing Bunny and El. DeBarge released six studio albums, four of them with Motown subsidiary Gordy Records. Released on August 20, 1982 by Motown Records (Gordy), It was the second single from their second studio album, '' All This Love''. Overview Recording After releasing their poorly-received self-titled album, the group quickly returned to the studio to record their second album. Choosing to add younger brother James and shortening their name to simply DeBarge, the group returned to Motown's recording studios determined to produce a hit. Manzel (band)
Manzel was an American instrumental funk band from Lexington, Kentucky, which formed in 1973 and disbanded in 1978. They consisted of Manzel Bush (keyboards), John Larry Van Dyke (guitar) and Steve Garner ( drums). In 1976, they recorded some sessions at Counterpart Creative Studios in Cincinnati, Ohio, which resulted in the songs "Space Funk", "Jump Street", "Midnight Theme" and "Sugar Dreams". The first two were released in 1977, and the latter two were released in 1979. While very obscure, Manzel have been widely sampled by hip hop musicians, including De La Soul, Cypress Hill, Ghostface Killah, Eric B. & Rakim and Ultramagnetic MCs. Lafayette Afro Rock Band was an American funk rock band formed in Roosevelt, Long Island, New York in 1970. Shortly after their formation, they relocated to France.
