Hard Rain (band)
Hard Rain were a British melodic rock band from Birmingham, England. Formed in 1996, following the demise of Magnum. The core of the band are vocalist Bob Catley and guitarist/songwriter Tony Clarkin. After Magnum split, a spin-off group featuring Catley and Clarkin was formed called Hard Rain, with a contemporary and alternative style. They released the albums '' Hard Rain'' in 1997 and ''When the Good Times Come'' in 1999. At this time, Catley was becoming increasingly focused on his solo career, and he quit Hard Rain in 1999, marking the end of a working relationship with Clarkin that dated back to 1972. ''Kingdom of Madness'' is the debut studio album by the English rock band Magnum. It was recorded in 1976, and was released in 1978 by Jet Records. ''Kingdom of Madness'' was awarded a 4 star review in Sounds, with writer Geoff Barton suggesting the band were capable of making a strong claim for a slice of the market occupied by the likes of Styx, Kansas and Yes. The album was described as "flute-laced progressive rock sound similar to that of Jethro Tull. Gary Barnacle
Gary Barnacle (born 1959 in Dover, England) is an English saxophonist, flautist, brass instrument arranger, composer, and producer. Barnacle is primarily noted for his session work and live work, including various Prince's Trust concerts at Wembley Arena, the Royal Albert Hall and the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. He performed at the Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute at Wembley Stadium in 1988, and appeared on television and in music videos during the 1980s and 1990s with many popular music acts. He was also in an electropop duo called Leisure Process from 1982 to 1983 with ex-Positive Noise singer Ross Middleton. Kex Gorin
Magnum are an English hard rock band. They were formed in Birmingham by Tony Clarkin (guitar, songwriter) and Bob Catley (vocals) in order to appear as the resident band at the Rum Runner nightclub in the city. Magnum have undergone several changes in personnel over the years; however, the core of Catley and Clarkin remain. Magnum's most significant early success was ''Chase the Dragon'' in 1982, which reached number 17 in the UK Albums Chart. Suzie "Sue" McCloskey, better known as Zenda Jacks, is an English singer. She is best known for being one of the members of the Silver Convention and Hard Rain group. She has also worked with artists such as Tina Turner and Ella Fitzgerald. Career Zenda Jacks trained in ballet from a very young age. As she grew older, she took singing and piano lessons, while also learning how to play the guitar. When she was 17 years old, she was discovered by 2 members of a Birmingham-based band, known as "Muscles". She was later invited to join the band as a singer. Silver Convention were a German Euro disco recording act of the 1970s. The group was originally named Silver Bird Convention or Silver Bird. Career The group was initiated in Munich by producers and songwriters Sylvester Levay and Michael Kunze. The group was named after Levay, "Silver" being Levay's nickname. Kunze had in the late 1960s been a pop lyricist who wrote protest songs in German; when these tunes went out of style, he began producing pop records and commercials. Levay had developed a taste for American music while growing up in Yugoslavia, eventually becoming a music arranger and lyricist. Songwriter
A songwriter is a musician who professionally composes musical compositions or writes lyrics for songs, or both.
