''Harbinger'' is the first novel in the '' Star Trek: Vanguard'' series concerning the Starbase 47, otherwise known as ''Vanguard''. Synopsis The U.S.S. ''Enterprise'' is damaged after traveling to the edge of the galaxy. They are passing through the Taurus Reach and are surprised to find a new Federation facility, Starbase 47 a.k.a. Vanguard. Captain James T. Kirk is puzzled at this place for many reasons, including it being so near the xenophobic Tholian Assembly. Kirk has his ship dock for repairs. David Alan Mack
David Alan Mack is a writer best known for his freelance ''Star Trek'' novels. Mack also has had a ''Star Trek'' script produced, and worked on a ''Star Trek'' comic book. Early career Mack attended New York University Tisch School of the Arts as an undergraduate from 1987 to 1991. There he majored in film and television production and screenwriting as well as writing for the student-run comedy magazine, '' The Plague''. After receiving several rejections on early spec-script submissions to '' Star Trek: The Next Generation'' and '' Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'', Mack teamed up with John J. Where No Man Has Gone Before
"Where No Man Has Gone Before" is the third episode of the first season of the American science fiction television series, ''Star Trek''. Written by Samuel A. Peeples and directed by James Goldstone, it first aired on September 22, 1966. In the episode, after the ''Enterprise'' attempts to cross the energy barrier at the edge of the galaxy, two crew members develop powerful ESP abilities which threaten the safety of the crew. The episode was the second pilot, produced in 1965 after the first pilot, " The Cage", was rejected by NBC. Reportedly, Lucille Ball, who owned Desilu Productions (where the pilot was produced), persuaded NBC management to consider a second pilot, thereby exercising a special option agreement it had with Desilu, because she liked Gene Roddenberry and believed in the project. ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – Harbinger'' is a video game for the MS-DOS and Apple Macintosh operating systems. The game is based upon the television series ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine''. It was the first ''Star Trek: Deep Space Nine'' video game to be released for the PC. Several cast members provided voices for their characters in this game, including Avery Brooks as Sisko. Plot The player character, Envoy Bannick, is on special assignment to a newly discovered race in the Gamma Quadrant. On the return trip through the wormhole, Bannick is attacked by some sort of alien drones and, despite assistance by Deep Space Nine, crashes into its docking ring while on emergency approach. Once Bannick arrives on the station, he discovers most of it has been abandoned except for senior staff due to a plasma storm in the vicinity. The Orions are a fictional extraterrestrial humanoid species in the American science fiction franchise ''Star Trek'', making their first appearance in the initial pilot for ''Star Trek: The Original Series'', " The Cage". The vanguard (also called the advance guard) is the leading part of an advancing military formation. It has a number of functions, including seeking out the enemy and securing ground in advance of the main force.
