Haralds Silovs (born 7 April 1986) is a Latvian long track and former short track speed skater, who became the 2008 and 2011 European champion in short track. He has participated in three Winter Olympics. In 2018, he finished fourth at speed skating 1500 metres event. During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he gained worldwide media attention after competing in the 1500 m short track, and 5000 m long track speed skating events in the same day, 13 February. He is the first athlete in the history of the Winter Olympics to compete in both short track and long track events at the same Games and the only athlete to compete in two different disciplines on the same day. Haralds Vasiļjevs (born February 11, 1952) is a Latvian professional ice hockey coach and former player. He is the head coach of the youth programs for the Graz 99ers. He is a former national team head coach. He played for Dinamo Riga in the USSR Championship. Coaching career Vasiļjevs started coaching with an internship with Dinamo Riga after completing the Russian hockey coaching school after being deemed to have the highest qualification to coach necessary. He then had an internship with his original coach Viktor Tikhonov. From 1985 to 1990, he was the head coach of RASMS Riga, the Dinamo Riga farm club. In 1990, he took the head coaching job at EHC Dortmund and through 1994 brought the team up from the Landesliga to the 2nd Bundesliga. Haralds Šlēgelmilhs, known internationally as Harald Schlegelmilch (born December 6, 1987) is a Latvian racing driver. Career He started racing at the age of 8. He raced in karting championships for seven years. In 2003, Harald participated in Formula BMW testing and in 2004 he drove in the Austrian-Swiss Formula BMW championship. Simultaneously, he was a driver in Formula Renault 2000 Scandinavia. The results were high, as the young driver became the Austrian-Swiss champion and was the best Rookie of F-Renault 2000. He continued with German Formula BMW in 2005. Schlegelmilch was good enough to promote in German Formula Three, scoring a few wins.
