Harald Christensen (resistance Member)
Harald Christensen (28 May 1915 – 27 February 1945) was a member of the Danish resistance executed by the Nazi Germany, German occupying power. Biography Harald Christensen was born in Faaborg 28 May 1915 as the eighth child of factory worker Niels Christensen and wife Maren Christine née Madsen and baptized in Faaborg church the seventh Sunday after Trinity Sunday, Trinity. In 1916 Christensen was living with his parents and siblings in Vestergade 29, Fåborg with his father supporting the family as a worker at Fåborg's wood wool factory with a permanently injured knee. On 27 February 1945 Christensen and nine other resistance members were executed in Ryvangen. After his death On 30 June 1945 at Vestre Cemetery, Vestre Kirkegaard a memorial service was held for him, as well as for the killed member of the resistance Estvan Svend Aage Wehlast. Parish Register
A parish register in an ecclesiastical parish is a handwritten volume, normally kept in the parish church in which certain details of religious ceremonies marking major events such as baptisms (together with the dates and names of the parents), marriages (with the names of the partners), children, and burials (that had taken place within the parish) are recorded. Along with these vital details, church goods, the parish's response to briefs, and notes on various happenings in the parish were also recorded. Hans Fuglsang-Damgaard (29 July 1890 – 8 July 1979) was a bishop of the diocese of Copenhagen for 25 years including the years of the Nazi Germany, German occupation. Early life and education Hans Fuglsang-Damgaard was born on 29 July 1890 in Fuglsang, Oksenvad parish to proprietor Ole Christian Damgaard. Husum (Copenhagen)
Husum is a predominantly residential neighbourhood in the Brønshøj-Husum district of Copenhagen, Denmark. Located approximately 7 km to the northwest of the city centre, between Vestvolden and Utterslev Mose, it is centred on Frederikssundsvej and Husum Torv. The area to the north of Frederikssundsvej is dominated by Housing estates while the area to the south of the street consists mainly of single-family detached home and terraced houses. History In the Middle Ages, Husum was a village. The land later belonged to Husumgård which was built in 1660 but demolished in 1738. The village consisted of 17 farms in 1782. Husum was merged with Copenhagen Municipality in 1901. The area became served by trams in 1924 when Line 5 was extended. Estvan Svend Aage Wehlast (15 April 1916 – 9 February 1945) was a member of the Danish resistance killed by Gestapo while resisting arrest. Biography On 9 February 1945 Gestapo attempted to arrest Wehlast and his six years younger brother Egon Frants Albert Wehlast at Smørumvej 60 where they kept a duplicating machine. Wehlast resisted the arrest and was shot and killed, while his brother was interned in Frøslev Prison Camp. After his death On 29 August Wehlast and 105 other victims of the occupation were given a state funeral in the memorial park founded at the execution and burial site in Ryvangen where their remains had been exhumed.
