"Happy When It Rains" is a song by Scottish alternative rock group the Jesus and Mary Chain, released as the second single from their second studio album, '' Darklands'' (1987). It was issued through Blanco y Negro Records on 3 August 1987 and reached number 25 on the UK Singles Chart. The Jesus and Mary Chain are a Scottish alternative rock band formed in East Kilbride in 1983. The band revolves around the songwriting partnership of brothers Jim and William Reid. After signing to independent label Creation Records, they released their first single " Upside Down" in 1984. Their debut album ''Psychocandy'' was released to critical acclaim in 1985 on major label WEA. The band went on to release five more studio albums before disbanding in 1999. They reunited in 2007 and have subsequently released the album '' Damage and Joy'' in 2017. Sister Vanilla
Linda Reid (born 1971), better known by her stage name Sister Vanilla, is a Scottish singer-songwriter. She is the younger sister of The Jesus and Mary Chain core members, Jim and William Reid. Biography Linda was born in 1971 in East Kilbride, Scotland. Despite being only a schoolgirl during the early breakthrough of her brothers' band The Jesus and Mary Chain in mid-1980s, she eventually became a vocalist, contributing to the track "Mo Tucker" on the band's album ''Munki'' in 1998. She also accompanied the band while touring for the record. Following the band's demise less than a year later, Jim and William proposed recording an album with her. The sessions took place over the next several years, with the album being partly home recorded at Linda's flat and partly recorded at Reid brothers' studio, The Drugstore. John Loder (sound Engineer)
John F. Loder (7 April 1946 – 12 August 2005) was an English sound engineer, record producer and founder of Southern Studios, as well as a former member of EXIT and co-founder of the Southern Records distribution company with his wife Sue. He was also the studio engineer of choice for Crass and Crass Records, and was often considered to be the band's "ninth member". Loder was born near Plymouth and educated at boarding school before studying electrical engineering at London's City University. During his post-graduate work there, he became involved in early experiments in digital encoding of audio for the military. By 1970 he had joined EXIT, alongside Penny Rimbaud, utilising a one-track tape-recorder. This led to Loder eventually founding a record studio in his garage after the disbanding of EXIT in 1974.
