Happy Hour (Youth Brigade Album)
''Happy Hour'' is a studio album by the Los Angeles–based hardcore punk band Youth Brigade (band), Youth Brigade, released in 1994. It was the band's first full-length studio album since their second album ''Sound & Fury (1983 album), Sound & Fury'', released 11 years earlier. However, in the 11 years they had released two EPs, as well as The Dividing Line (Youth Brigade album), one album under the name The Brigade, when bassist/vocalist Adam Stern was on hiatus from the band for six years, from 1985 to 1991. The band supported the album with the "10 Years of BYO in Yer Face" tour. Critical reception AllMusic wrote that "the songs are speedy and socially conscious as usual, with that Punk rock in California, Southern California hardcore feel." Youth Brigade (band)
Youth Brigade is an American punk rock band formed in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, United States, in 1980 by the brothers Mark, Adam, and Shawn Stern. The band subsequently founded BYO (Better Youth Organization). Many later punk bands cite Youth Brigade as an influence, including The Nation of Ulysses and The Briefs. Youth Brigade has released five studio albums (counting one released as The Brigade), of which the last was released in 1996. Almost each album was recorded with the original lineup of the Stern brothers (Mark, Adam and Shawn); bassist Bob Gnarly replaced Adam in 1985 during the recording of '' The Dividing Line'', which was released as The Brigade. Adam returned in 1991 (when the band reunited) and contributed to the band's 1992 EP '' Come Again'' and their next two albums ('' Happy Hour'' and ''To Sell the Truth'') before leaving once again in 2007. Better Youth Organization Records (BYO) is a Los Angeles, California based independent punk rock record label created by Shawn and Mark Stern, two of the three brothers of the California punk rock band Youth Brigade (the third being Adam Stern who plays bass but does not run BYO). ''The Dividing Line'' is a studio album by the Los Angeles–based hardcore punk band Youth Brigade, released in 1986 under the moniker The Brigade. ''Sound & Fury'' is the second studio album released by Los Angeles-based hardcore punk band Youth Brigade. Released in 1983, it followed a 1982 album of the same name. The album was released on CD as the first half of the 1994 compilation, ''Sink With Kalifornija''. Origins and recording In July 1982, Youth Brigade recorded their debut album entitled Sound & Fury Mixed by Ira Malek. However, during the ''Someone Got Their Head Kicked In'' tour with Social Distortion (as chronicled in the documentary '' Another State of Mind'') in the summer of 1982, which marked their first national tour, Youth Brigade realized that they were disappointed with the album and stopped the pressing at only 800 copies. Since the mid-1970s, California has had thriving regional punk rock movements.
