Happy Birthday (Altered Images Song)
"Happy Birthday" is a song by Scottish band Altered Images, released as a single from their 1981 album of the same name. The song entered the UK charts in September 1981 and peaked at number two the following month, holding that position for three weeks. It was the 15th-best-selling single in the UK in 1981 and has been certified silver by the BPI for sales in excess of 250,000 copies. "Happy Birthday" is the only song on the album that was produced by Martin Rushent, who had already scored major success that year producing for the Human League and would win the Producer of the Year award for 1981 at the BPI Awards. Altered Images are a Scottish new wave/post-punk band who found success in the early 1980s. Fronted by singer Clare Grogan, the group branched into mainstream pop music, having six UK top-40 hit singles and three top-30 albums from 1981 to 1983. Their hits include " Happy Birthday", "I Could Be Happy", "See Those Eyes", and " Don't Talk to Me About Love". Figurines is an indie rock band from Denmark, formed in the mid-1990s. The band released their first EP, ''The Detour'', in 2001 and their first full-length album, ''Shake a Mountain'', in 2004. The band began to receive national attention in Denmark around the time of the full-length release, and began touring Germany in 2003. Their second full-length, ''Skeleton'', was released in 2005 on Danish label Morningside Records and German label Pop-U-Loud, and on US label The Control Group in 2006. The band began a North American tour after being nominated for a Canadian Music Week Indie award and has since performed at the Indies ceremony, SXSW, KEXP, and in cities in the US, Canada, and Europe. Kissaway Trail are a three-piece indie rock band from Odense, Denmark. History The four members of Kissaway Trail (Søren, Thomas, Hasse and Rune) originally recorded together under the name 'Isles', and did a self-released album called "We have decided not to die" in 2005. Since then, an additional guitarist, Daniel, while Thomas started to sing alongside Søren making the distinctive two lead-vocal sound that they have today. Various tracks from this early period of the band's history can still be downloaded from Danish music websites.
