Hapoel Mevaseret Zion ( he, הפועל מבשרת ציון) is an Israeli football club based in Mevaseret Zion. The club is currently in Liga Gimel Central division. History The club was founded in 1966 and played mostly in the lower divisions of Israeli football. Mevaseret reached Liga Bet for the first time in the 1981–82 season, in which they were punished with suspension of activity and demoted back to Liga Gimel.Who will be relegated from North B? Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the Mandate for Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of Israel Football Association, football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. 2007–08 Liga Alef
The 2007–08 Liga Alef season saw Hapoel Umm al-Fahm (champions of the North Division) and Maccabi Ironi Bat Yam (champions of the South Division) winning the title and promotion to Liga Artzit. At the bottom, the bottom two clubs in each division, Hapoel Ahva Haifa, Hapoel Makr (from North division), Maccabi Ironi Amishav Petah Tikva and Ironi Ofakim (from South division) were all automatically relegated to Liga Bet, whilst the two clubs which were ranked in 12th place in each division, Beitar Haifa and Hapoel Tzafririm Holon entered a promotion/relegation play-offs, and both relegated to Liga Bet after losing the play-offs. Israel Football League System
The Israeli football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for club football in Israel. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, and allows even the smallest club to dream of rising to the very top of the system. There are five levels, containing a total of 16 divisions. It is run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). Structure The top division of Israeli football is the Premier League. Liga Leumit is the second tier. These two divisions all operate at the national level. Below Liga Leumit the divisions are split into regionalised leagues. Liga Alef is the third tier, and is split into north and south divisions. Liga Bet, the fourth tier, is divided into four regionalised leagues. 2011–12 Liga Bet
The 2011–12 Liga Bet season saw Tzeirei Bir al-Maksur (champions of the North A division), Hapoel Migdal HaEmek (champions of the North B division), Hapoel Azor (champions of the South A division) and Maccabi Sha'arayim (champions of the South B division) win their regional divisions and qualify for promotion play-offs. Hapoel Migdal HaEmek and Maccabi Sha'arayim won the promotion play-offs and promoted to Liga Alef, while Tzeirei Bir al-Maksur and Hapoel Azor played for promotion against the 14th ranked club from Liga Alef, Hapoel Azor winning and gaining promotion as well and Tzeirei Bir al-Maksur losing and remaining in Liga Bet. The 2010–11 Liga Bet season saw Maccabi Sektzia Ma'alot-Tarshiha (champions of the North A division), Maccabi Daliyat al-Karmel (champions of the North B division), Beitar Kfar Saba (champions of the South A division) and Hapoel Katamon Jerusalem (champions of the South B division) winning the title and promotion to Liga Alef. The clubs ranked 2nd to 5th in each division entered a promotion play-off, at the end of which, in the North section F.C. Givat Olga won against Ironi Sayid Umm al-Fahm from Liga Alef North and, while in the South section, Ortodoxim Lod won against Hapoel Nahlat Yehuda from Liga Alef South. The 2009–10 Liga Alef season was the first season since the 1998–99 Liga Alef season, in which Liga Alef regained its status as the third tier of Israeli football, due to the closure of Liga Artzit. Maccabi Ironi Jatt (champions of the North Division) and Hapoel Herzliya (champions of the South Division) won the title and promotion to Liga Leumit. The 2008–09 Liga Alef season was the last season of Liga Alef as the fourth tier of the Israeli football league system. Third tier, Liga Artzit, was scrapped, while the Premier League and Liga Leumit were expanded to 16 clubs each, making Liga Alef the third tier, as well as expanding the two regional divisions to 16 clubs. The season saw Ahva Arraba (champions of the North Division) and Maccabi Be'er Sheva (champions of the South Division) winning the title and promotion to Liga Leumit.
