Hapoel Kiryat Shalom F.C. ( he, הפועל קרית שלום) is an Israeli association football, football club based in the Kiryat Shalom neighborhood of Tel Aviv. The club is notable for being the first interactive fan-managed sports team, as almost all playing-related decisions (such as squad selection, substitutions etc.) were taken through votes on the Web2Sport website. History Early Years The club was established in 1957 and played most of its seasons in the lower divisions, except for eight seasons in the 1960s and the early 1970s in which the club played in third tier Liga Bet. In summer 1961, the club merged with fellow Liga Bet club, Hapoel HaDarom Tel Aviv, and played for a few seasons as Hapoel HaDarom/Kiryat Shalom, finally reverting to its old name in 1965, when the club dropped back to Liga Gimel. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the Mandate for Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of Israel Football Association, football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. The Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina''), is a knockout cup competition in Israeli football, run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). The State Cup was first held in 1928 as the People's Cup. Because it involves clubs of all standards playing against each other, there is the possibility for "minnows" from the lower divisions to become "giant-killers" by eliminating top clubs from the tournament, although lower division teams rarely reach the final. The current holders of the State Cup are the Israeli Premier League club Hapoel Haifa, who beat Beitar Jerusalem in the 2018 final on May 9, 2018. The 2014–15 Israel State Cup ( he, גביע המדינה, ''Gvia HaMedina'') was the 76th season of Israel's nationwide football cup competition and the 61st after the Israeli Declaration of Independence.
