Hapoel Bnei Nazareth F.C.
Hapoel Bnei Nazareth ( he, הפועל בני נצרת), ( ar, شباب الناصرة) was an Israeli football club based in Nazareth. The club is currently in Liga Gimel Jezreel division. History The club was founded in 1959 and joined Liga Gimel of the Israel Football Association In 1960. In the 1962–63 season, the club have reached Liga Bet, the third tier of Israeli football at the time and in the following season, finished third in Liga Bet North A division and were promoted to Liga Alef following a victory of 8–0 against Beitar Kiryat Shmona, in front of more than 6,000 spectators. Thus, they became the second Arab-Israeli club to reach the second tier of Israeli football after Ahva Notzrit Haifa, which have played in the second tier until 1956. The club have played eleven consecutive seasons in the second tier, with their best placing was the ninth place in Liga Alef North division in both 1968–69 and 1970–71 seasons. Hapoel ( he, הפועל, lit. ''the worker'') is an Israeli Jewish sports association established in 1926 by the Histadrut Labor Federation. History During the Mandate for Palestine, British Mandate of Palestine period Hapoel had a bitter rivalry with Maccabi World Union, Maccabi and organized its own competitions, with the exception of Israel Football Association, football, the only sport in which all the organizations played each other. At the time, Hapoel took no part in the ''Eretz Israel Olympic Committee'', which was controlled by Maccabi, and instead sought for international ties with similar workers sports organizations of socialist parties. Therefore, Hapoel became a member of Socialist Workers' Sport International, SASI in 1927 and later was a member of CSIT. Liga Artzit ( he, ליגה ארצית, lit. ''Country League'') is the defunct third division of Israeli Football League, beneath its highest division Premier League and the second division Liga Leumit. Before being cancelled in 2009, it was run by the Israel Football Association. It was replaced by Liga Alef. Structure There were 12 teams in Liga Artzit. Each team played 33 matches; the first 22 matches were played on a home and away basis, with the last 11 fixtures based on league positions after 22 games. Like the majority of leagues in the world, three points were awarded for a win, one for a draw and zero for a loss. Israel Football League System
The Israeli football league system is a series of interconnected leagues for club football in Israel. The system has a hierarchical format with promotion and relegation between leagues at different levels, and allows even the smallest club to dream of rising to the very top of the system. There are five levels, containing a total of 16 divisions. It is run by the Israel Football Association (IFA). Structure The top division of Israeli football is the Premier League. Liga Leumit is the second tier. These two divisions all operate at the national level. Below Liga Leumit the divisions are split into regionalised leagues. Liga Alef is the third tier, and is split into north and south divisions. Liga Bet, the fourth tier, is divided into four regionalised leagues. Liga Gimel, the bottom division of Israeli football, is split into eight regionalised leagues.

The 1989–90 Liga Alef season saw Maccabi Acre and Hapoel Ashdod promoted to Liga Artzit as the respective winners of the north and south division. They were joined by Ironi Ashdod who won the promotion/relegation play-offs. Hapoel Bnei Nazareth, Beitar Haifa, Hapoel Or Yehuda and Hapoel Dimona were all relegated to Liga Bet.
