Hap Marre
Harry "Hap" Marre was an early twentieth-century American soccer inside left who spent his entire professional career in the St. Louis Soccer League. Marre, a native of St. Louis, Missouri and brother of National Soccer Hall of Fame member John Marre, gained his greatest fame as a member of Ben Millers. Most details regarding his career are obscure, but he is listed on the Ben Miller roster as early as 1916. In 1917, he was the captain of Ben Millers. In 1918, he joined the United States Navy during World War I, playing for the Navy's soccer team. The National Soccer Hall of Fame is a private, non-profit institution established in 1979 and currently located in Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. John Marre
John Marre was an early twentieth century U.S. soccer wing forward, team owner and executive who is a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame. Player Marre, a native of St. Louis, Missouri and brother of Harry “Hap” Marre, may have begun playing in the late nineteenth century, but current records are inconclusive. However, he is recorded as having played for both St. Leo's and St. Teresa’s in the St. Louis Soccer League. Executive He gained his greatest fame as a team owner and executive. In 1927, he purchased Ratican’s from Harry Ratican and renamed it Tablers, winning three consecutive league titles as both team owner and coach. Ben Millers was a U.S. soccer club sponsored by the Ben W. Miller Hat Company of St. Louis, Missouri. Founded in 1913, it entered the St. Louis Soccer League two years later, winning seven league titles and one National Challenge Cup before its disbandment in 1935. Fore River (soccer)
Fore River (also known as the Fore River Shipbuilding Company Stars) was an amateur U.S. soccer team which had its origins as the Fore River Shipbuilding company team of Quincy, Massachusetts. History Early team records are spotty, but the team existed at least as early as 1907 Apparently, the team played in a series of local amateur leagues, including the New England League (NEL) which featured several of the better U.S. teams of that era. The only year for which NEL standings exist are 1908-1909 when Fore River finished fourth. In 1915, the team won the Massachusetts State Cup with a victory over Lynne Fosse F.C.
