Hansjörg Walter (born 5 February 1951, in Frauenfeld) is a Swiss politician of the Swiss People's Party. He was a member of the Swiss National Council for the canton of Thurgau (1999–2017) and president of the Swiss Farmers' Union (2000–2012). Hansjörg Vogel (born 16 March 1951 in Bern) is a Swiss theologian who was from 1994 until his resignation in 1995 the Roman Catholic bishop of the Basel. Life On 28 November 1976, he received his priestly ordination. After his election as bishop of Basel and the confirmation by the Pope John Paul II, he was nominated as bishop on 4 April 1994. The episcopal consecration was given by his predecessor in office, Otto Wüst. On 2 June 1995, he resigned from his office after it became known that he would soon be a father. Hansjörg Trachsel (born 30 August 1948) is a Swiss politician and former bobsledder who competed in the late 1970s. Trachsel won two medals at the FIBT World Championships with a silver in the two-man event (1977) and a bronze in the four-man event (1979). Trachsel served as an officer in the international governing body of the sport, the Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh and Toboggan (FIBT), where he oversaw the construction and renovation of several bobsled venues. He won the first prize at the German Jugend musiziert Competition with seventeen, which led to a scholarship enabling him to further his education at Interlochen (Michigan, USA).
