Johannes "Hans" Nieuwenburg (born 5 June 1968 in Koudekerk aan den Rijn) is a former water polo defender from the Netherlands, who participated in two Summer Olympics. Koudekerk Aan Den Rijn
Koudekerk aan den Rijn (English: ''Cold Church upon Rhine'') is a village located in the municipality of Alphen aan den Rijn, Netherlands. It is located about 4 km west of the urban centre, in the province of South Holland. History Koudekerk aan den Rijn is a dike village which developed in the Early Middle Ages along the Luttike Rijn and the Oude Rijn. The Dutch Reformed church is a three aisled basilica-like church. The tower was built around 1400, but probably contains 13th century elements. The 15th century was dedicated to Aleid van Poelgeest who was killed in 1392. The church and tower were extensively restored between 1935 and 1936. Groot-Poelgeest Castle was first mentioned in 1326, but probably dated from around 1250. The castle started to deteriorate after 1705 and it turned into a ruin. The tower, the castle island and a carriage house remain. Water Polo
Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Johannes Hendrikus Jacques "Hans" van Zeeland (born May 4, 1954 in Arnhem) is a former water polo player from the Netherlands, who won the bronze medal with the Dutch National Team at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal.
