Hans Conzett
Hans Conzett (27 July 1915 – 20 March 1996) was a Swiss politician. He served as president of the Farmers, Traders and Independents and of the resulting conservative Swiss People's Party. At the international level he was Chairman of UNICEF. He was also a publisher. Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Conzett was the son of National Councilman Hans C. Conzett of the Social Democratic Party. He studied law from 1935 to 1941 at the University of Zurich and obtained his doctorate in 1944. Conzett worked in the print shop Conzett & Huber, where his father was once a partner. As a publisher, he was a promoter of the magazine '' Du'' and founder of '' Manesse library of world literature''. In addition, he was involved in UNICEF and headed a Swiss committee from 1959 to 1988 as president. He was the international Chairman of UNICEF from 1974 to 1976. Swiss People's Party
The Swiss People's Party (german: Schweizerische Volkspartei, SVP; rm, Partida populara Svizra, PPS), also known as the Democratic Union of the Centre (french: Union démocratique du centre, UDC; it, Unione Democratica di Centro, UDC), is a national-conservative, right-wing populist political party in Switzerland. Stockalper Castle
The Stockalper Palace (German: ''Stockalperpalast'') is a castle in Brig-Glis, Switzerland. It was built between 1658 and 1678 by Kaspar Stockalper, a silk merchant of Brig. The Stockalper Palace was the largest private construction in Switzerland at the time. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance. The Manesse Verlag is a German publishing house for classical literature, founded in 1944 in Zürich in Switzerland. It belongs today to Random House publishing group based in Munich. The publishing house is mainly known for its library of world literature. It also publishes first and new translations of classical works. Manesse is directed by Horst Lauinger. History Walther Meier founded the Manesse Verlag in Zürich in 1944. Fritz Hofmann (politician)
Fritz Hofmann (4 March 1924 in Engelburg, Switzerland – 24 May 2005 in Burgdorf, Switzerland) was a Swiss politician. From 1962 to 1987, he was a member of the National Council. He served as the president of the Swiss People's Party (SVP) from 1976 to 1984. Hofmann graduated from schools in Gossau and St. Gallen. He lived in Burgdorf and had two children. Professionally, he was a graduate engineer agronomist at ETH Zurich. From 1953 to 1967 he made a career in the Butterzentrale Burgdorf. He was then the director of the Central Association of Swiss Milk Producers (1968–1987). Later he served as president of the Berner Kantonalbank. Conzett & Huber was a Swiss publishing house known for the magazines '' Du'' and ''Zürcher Illustrated.'' In 1908, Verena Conzett made the decision to expand her small print shop into the magazine publisher Conzett & Cie (Conzett & Co.), with lawyer Emil Huber as a "silent shareholder". Huber took over operational management of the company in 1918. By 1929, the company was known as Conzett & Huber. In 1944, Walther Meier founded Manesse Verlag at Conzett & Huber, which sold it to Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt in 1983. In 1994, the Conzett + Huber AG merged with the Alfred Walter AG to create the Conzett + Walter AG.
