The Hans-Peter Martin's List – For genuine control in Brussels (german: Liste Dr. Hans-Peter Martin – Für echte Kontrolle in Brüssel) was a populist and Eurosceptic political party in Austria. It had three seats in the European Parliament. History Foundation Hans-Peter Martin, who had led the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) parliamentary party in the European Parliament, founded the party in 2004 after he had come into conflict with his own party. In the 2004 European Parliament election his party received 14 per cent of the vote — more than The Greens or the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), and gained two seats in the European Parliament. His colleague at the time of the elections was Karin Resetarits, a former journalist with both the ORF and a private radio station. Hans-Peter Martin
Hans-Peter Martin (born 11 August 1957) is an Austrian author and journalist and former politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament between 1999 and 2014. Journalist and author Born in Bregenz, Austria, Martin graduated from the University of Vienna in 1984. Already by then, he worked for the German weekly news magazine ''Der Spiegel''. 1986, he became an editor, from 1989 he became the foreign correspondent of Der Spiegel, located in Rio de Janeiro. 1996, he become the foreign correspondent for Vienna and Prague. ORF (broadcaster)
('Austrian Broadcasting Corporation'; ORF) is an Austrian national public broadcaster. Martin Ehrenhauser (born September the 18, 1978) is an Austrian former Member of the European Parliament (MEP). He took his seat in the parliament in July 2009, when Hans-Peter Martin's List, an independent Austrian list led by author and MEP Hans-Peter Martin gained 17.7% of the Austrian vote in the 2009 European Parliament election in Austria, 2009 elections for the European Parliament. 2009 European Parliament Election In Austria
The 2009 European Parliament election in Austria was the 2009 election of the delegation from Austria to the European Parliament. Austria will have 17 seats in the European Parliament, instead of the 18 that the country had before the re-allocation of seats. Through the Lisbon Treaty, the number of seats was graded to 19, so the SPÖ and BZÖ parties got additional seats, which are currently Observer MEPs. Libertas
Libertas (Latin for 'liberty' or 'freedom', ) is the Roman goddess and personification of liberty. She became a politicised figure in the Late Republic, featured on coins supporting the populares faction, and later those of the assassins of Julius Caesar. Nonetheless, she sometimes appears on coins from the imperial period, such as Galba's "Freedom of the People" coins during his short reign after the death of Nero. She is usually portrayed with two accoutrements: the rod and the soft pileus, which she holds out, rather than wears. The Greek equivalent of the goddess Libertas is Eleutheria, the personification of liberty. 2006 Austrian Legislative Election
Legislative elections were held in Austria on 1 October 2006 to elect the 23rd National Council, the lower house of Austria's bicameral parliament. The governing Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) suffered substantial losses and was unexpectedly overtaken by the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). The Greens became the third largest party for the first time, while the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) fell to fourth for the first time. The Alliance for the Future of Austria (BZÖ), competing in its first national election, narrowly passed the 4% electoral threshold, despite opinion polling which indicated it would fall short. After the 2002 election, the ÖVP formed government with the FPÖ; in 2005, the Alliance for the Future of Austria (BZÖ) split from the FPÖ.
