Hannah Petty
Hannah Petty (born 17 May 1997) is an Australian netball player in the Suncorp Super Netball league, playing for the Adelaide Thunderbirds. Petty began playing for the Thunderbirds in 2016 and has played for the South Australian-based team ever since. During her development, Petty was part of the South Australian Sport Institute Netball Program and was a member of the 2017 Under-21 Australian team. She was appointed co-captain of the Thunderbirds for the 2020 season, sharing the role with English netballer Chelsea Pitman Chelsea Pitman (born 8 June 1988) is an Australian-born netball player representing the England National Netball Team internationally. Wudinna, South Australia
Wudinna is a town in South Australia. The area was first settled by Europeans in 1861 when Robert George Standley lodged a claim for of land surrounding Weedna Hill ('weedna' later became changed to Wudinna which may be an Aboriginal word meaning 'the granite hill'). It was proclaimed a town in 1916. It is on the Eyre Highway across the top of Eyre Peninsula. It is the seat of the Wudinna District Council. Geography The region is known as ''The granite country'' for its deposits of granite in the area, with tourists able to travel the ''granite trail'' to explore local landmarks. Quarrying of granite has occurred in the local area since the 1990s. Some granite blocks quarried at the Desert Rose Quarry near Mount Wudinna can be up to 8 cubic metres in volume and weigh 20 tonnes, before being cut into smaller blocks for shipping around Australia, or for export to Asian and European markets. Netball is a ball sport played on a court by two teams of seven players. It is among a rare number of sports which have been created exclusively for female competitors. The sport is played on indoor and outdoor netball courts and is specifically played in schools. Netball is most popularly played in Commonwealth nations. A common misunderstanding of the sport's origins has resulted in the mistaken belief that netball was created to prevent women from playing basketball. Chelsea Pitman (born 8 June 1988) is an Australian-born netball player representing the England National Netball Team internationally. She is currently contracted as a training partner for the West Coast Fever playing in the Suncorp Super Netball competition in Australia. West Coast Fever has just became premiers after winning the Suncorp Super Netball League 2022 (first time in 25 years). She is predominantly a wing attack, but can also play goal attack. Domestic career Pitman's career began in New South Wales, representing the state at underage national championships before moving to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra where she was noticed by national head coach Norma Plummer. 2020 Suncorp Super Netball Season
The 2020 Suncorp Super Netball season was the fourth season of the premier netball league in Australia. The season was originally scheduled to commence on 2 May, though was delayed to 1 August due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The defending premiers, New South Wales Swifts were eliminated in the first week of the finals series by the eventual runners-up West Coast Fever. The premiers were the Melbourne Vixens, who defeated the Fever by two goals in the Grand Final at Nissan Arena in Brisbane. Overview Teams Format The season is played over fourteen rounds, allowing every team to play each other twice, once at home and once away. The top four teams on the ladder at the conclusion of the regular season qualify for the finals series.
