Hanna Sköld
Hanna Sköld (born 4 July 1997) is a Swedish ice hockey forward, currently playing for Leksands IF Dam in the Swedish Women's Hockey League (SDHL). She served as Leksands captain during 2019 to 2022, and has appeared intermittently with the Swedish national team. Playing career Growing up in Avesta, Sköld began playing hockey around the age of five, being taught by her father. She lived in Avesta until she was 16, playing as the only girl on the local boys' teams, when she began high school and moved to Leksands, signing with Riksserien club Leksands IF. She scored 9 points in 25 games in her rookie Riksserien season. She had a breakout year in 2015–16, notching a career-best 32 points in 36 games and being named to the senior Swedish roster for the World Championships. Her 20 goals made her the seventh-leading goal scorer in the league that season. Avesta (locality)
Avesta () is a locality and the seat of Avesta Municipality in Dalarna County, Sweden, with 11,949 inhabitants in 2015. The name is first found in 1303 as "Aghastadhum". ''Aghe'' is of similar origin as the word å, meaning stream, in this case the Avestafors, a tributary of the river Dalälven. ''Stadhum'' was dative plural of a word of similar origin as stead, or farm. History In the Scandinavian Middle Ages there was a blast furnace at the location. In 1636 the construction of a giant copper mine was initiated near the Avesta fors. The town Avesta received partial privileges in 1641 as a town under the city of Falun, and in 1644 a copper mint was built. 2017–18 SDHL Season
The 2017–18 SDHL season was the eleventh season of the Swedish Women's Hockey League (Svenska damhockeyligan, or SDHL). The season began in September 2017 and ended in March 2018. Significant events Pre-season After the end of the 2016–17 season, the IF Sundsvall Hockey organisation cut its women's side, despite having managed to save their place in the SDHL during the qualification playoffs the organisation citing a need to save money for its third-tier men's side. The club was criticised for the decision, with forward Mathilda Gustafsson stating that "If we were a company instead of an association, you would never shut down a department which only employed women because the cost inhibits the male employees." Leksands IF (women) Players
Leksands Idrottsförening is a Swedish professional ice hockey team from the town of Leksand in the region of Dalarna. The team plays in the top-tier league, SHL, after succeeding through the 2019 SHL qualifiers and thus earning promotion to the SHL. The club's home arena is Tegera Arena, which seats 7,650 spectators. History The club was formed on 13 August 1919, originally playing bandy and ski competitions. In 1920 they also took up football. The first hockey game was played in 1938, when they beat Mora IK 11–0, and this sport is now the only sport the club competes in. The 2016 IIHF Women's World Championship was the 17th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. It was contested in Kamloops, Canada from 28 March to 4 April 2016. 2015 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship
The 2015 IIHF World Women's U18 Championships was the eighth World Women's U18 Championship. The top division tournament was played in Buffalo, United States, from 5 to 12 January 2015. Twenty nations played in three levels, with promotion and relegation for the top and bottom teams at each level. The United States won their fourth title defeating Canada in overtime in the gold medal game, with Jincy Dunne scoring on the power play. This was the eighth consecutive final between the two nations, evening their all-time records.
